St. Paul protesters have made an impact here at the Republican National Convention. They have closed roads, made entrance difficult and even damaged local businesses.
But not all have been destructive. Some are just silly and unusual, with a little creativity tossed in.
Joe Kelley found a couple of guys who were getting their exercise in an unusual way Thursday outside the XCEL Center.
The KRMG Election Experience went on a hunt Thursday evening. We wanted to visit the Oklahoma delegation on the convention floor, not an easy task.
The media credentials we have are not good for the floor so we have to check out passes that get us there for a short time.
So, always in the quest for some video, we took off to the XCEL Energy center and found the good folks
Sarah Palin has been a super hit here in St. Paul. But how does she play in Oklahoma and with Oklahoma women?
State representative from House District 84, Sally Kern and State rep from District 67, Pam Peterson answered those questions when they visited the KRMG Election Experience Thursday afternoon.
Watch the video and listen to the ladies as well.
Broadcasting from the conventions has been the chance of a lifetime. The KRMG Election Experience has met some unique and fascinating people and one of them is Les Kinsolving.
Les has reported from the White House since the final term of Richard Nixon and has not missed a beat since then.
As we worked the halls of the conventions we got to know Les and wanted you to have a chance to meet him as well.
Listen to Les, and watch the video as well.
Muskogee Mayor John Tyler Hammons has been a huge presence here at the Republican National Convention. Hammons turned 20 years old on Thursday and got to realize a dream as well.
Mayor Hammons came to the convention with one big goal, to meet former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
He finally had that chance on Thursday and you can see the picture, hear the audio and see the video as well.
The XCEL Energy center was high energy Wednesday night as Sarah Palin introduced herself to the American people.
Everyone in the hall loved her speech as did Florida Congressman Jeff Miller. The good Congressman stopped by the KRMG Election Experience Thursday morning to talk about her speech and to look forward to John McCain's acceptance speech.
Listen, and watch the video from the hallways of the XCEL Energy center.
The Republican Convention comes to an end Thursday night when Senator John McCain accepts the party's nomination for President.
Up until now the backdrop for the major speeches has been the same. A simple stage with a large video screen behind it frames one side of the arena.
But as of Thursday morning, the RNC had workers busy taking down the old stage and constructing a brand new one just for McCain's speech.
The KRMG Election Experience was there with video camera in hand and you can see it below!
Sarah Palin electrified the crowd at the XCEL Energy Center Wednesday night. But did Palin's speech play outside the arena?
KRMG Washington reporter Jamie Dupree was in the arena and gives us his thoughts on the speech and it's effect.

His name is Everett Alvarez Jr. and he was the first aviator shot down in Vietnam. Mr. Alvarez was a P.O.W. for eight and a half years before being released in 1973.
Part of his time as a prisoner was spent at the so called "Hanoi Hilton" camp where so many U.S. soldiers, including John McCain suffered.
Watch and listen as Mr. Alvarez talks about his time in captivity and his relationship with John McCain.
Senator Orrin Hatch has been serving the state of Utah and the Republican party since 1977.
He is front and center here at the Republican National Convention and he made a stop at the KRMG Election Experience booth on Wednesday.
Watch and listen below as Senator Hatch throws his support behind Governor Palin.
When you go to a city, there are always things you HAVE to see. In Minneapolis/St. Paul it's the Mall of America.
It's the worlds largest mall, has an amusement park inside, and boasts more shops than the average human would ever need to meander past.
Take a look as the KRMG Election Experience visits the giant testament to capitolism!
No matter which ticket is elected, this election will be remembered forever for breaking barriers. That has been somewhat of a focus in Denver and here in St. Paul as well.
With the electricity in the air, we wanted to get another view so we talked to Candy Crowley of CNN. Crowley is CNN's senior political correspondent and she took her time to talk to the KRMG Election Experience Wednesday afternoon.
Watch and listen below to Ms. Crowley and her very strong opinions on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her running for VP as a mother and wife.
Brian Ross of ABC is used to trouble. Ross and his team have done some of the best investigative reporting on television in years.
This week Ross has his sights on the Republican National Convention in St. Paul.
Listen and watch as Ross details some of the problems they still face after the DNC in Denver and what they are working on here in St. Paul.
He is the talkmaster and he is on site in St. Paul. Boortz is never short of an opinion and that was the case when he visited with the KRMG Election Experience.
Neal has a word or two about protesters and the city of St. Paul.
OK, it wasn't an appearance but Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the presumptive VP nominee was in the XCEL center Wednesday morning.
Palin was testing the microphones, checking out the stage, and becoming familiar with the arena.
In our never ending quest to bring you EVERYTHING in front of and behind the scenes, The KRMG Election Experience was there with a video recorder!
Every day at a political convention brings something new and exciting. Tuesday night was no exception as the KRMG Election Experience was trying to leave the XCEL Center.
Protesters at the main entrance to the facility were tear gassed by Police and downtown St. Paul was shut down completely.
That left us and broadcasters from KGO radio in San Francisco without a way to our hotel.
The video below is a log of how the evening went!
Tuesday was a big day at the Republican National Convention. With hurricane Gustav weakening rapidly, the convention got on a full blown roll!
The KRMG Election Experience was motoring as well. Take a listen below to some of the highlights of day two here in St. Paul.
Congressman John Sullivan
KRMG campaign analyst and good Republican Don Burdick
Former Republican congressman and current Libertarian Presidential candidate Bob Barr
CNN anchor John King
Tulsa blogger Michael Bates
Alaska delegate David Boyle on Sarah Palin
Former Speaker of the House Denny Hastert
Republican delegate from Oklahoma and former candidate for Governor, Bob Sullivan
Former Executive Director of the Christian Coalition Ralph Reed visits about Sarah Palin and his new book, "Dark Horse." (9/03)
ABC investigative reporter Brian Ross talks about what's in his sights here at the RNC. (9/03)
KRMG sage Neal Boortz with his opinion of the happenings so far in St. Paul. (9/03)
Former Republican Congressman Bob Barr is here in St. Paul but in an unusual position. Barr is now running for President on the Libertarian ticket so he is somewhat of a man on an island.
Barr understands his chance to win is slim but he wants to make his platform and presence known. Watch and listen as Barr stops by the KRMG Election Experience.
Day two of the Republican Convention was very eventful as the events really started to spin up. Among those making an appearance at the XCEL Center was Congressman John Sullivan.
The good Congressman made the time to stop by the KRMG Election Experience and visit. Listen here and watch below to catch up with the happenings here!
No doubt you have heard about the protesters here in St. Paul. Hundreds have been arrested and tear gas has been used as well.
But not all of the disgruntled have expressed their displeasure in a violet manner.
There are also those who choose to show opinion through other more unusual manners.
Watch the video below of some of the more creative uses of self expression.
A huge topic in this political campaign has been media bias. Both sides of the aisle claim it happens but is it real or only a matter of perception?
The KRMG Election Experience asked those very questions of a man who is right in the middle of the action.
Watch and listen as CNN's John King answers those and other questions.
The Republican National Convention is filled with people who have great power and wisdom. One of those is former House Speaker Denny Hastert who took a little time to visit with Joe and Rick.
Keep an ear out for his reference to Oklahoma and his ties there.
Sarah Palin has taken the country by storm. Last Friday Palin was picked by John McCain as his running mate and since that time, a storm of information has been thrown at you.
Take the time to go back and see the original news conference where McCain introduced Palin and see what you think.
- President George W. Bush via Satellite
- Senator Joe Lieberman
- Former Senator Fred Thompson The KRMG Election Experience begins tonight at 6:00pm with a one-hour special featuring The KRMG Morning News Team, followed by live continuing team coverage from the floor of the RNC.

RE: Governor Palin And Trooper Investigation
DATE: August 30, 2008
"For the record, no one ever said fire Wooten. Not the governor. Not Todd. Not any of the other staff ..." -- Former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, Anchorage Daily News, 8/30/08
In the wake of John McCain's decision to select Governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, some in the press are reporting on an inquiry involving the Department of Public Safety commissioner and Governor Palin's former brother-in-law, a state trooper. The following are the facts of the matter:
· Governor Palin is an open book on this -- she did nothing wrong and has nothing to hide. As a reformer and a leader on ethics reform, she has been happy to cooperate fully in the inquiry of this matter.
He gives unique and memorable perspective as Chief Washington Correspondent for ABC News and anchor of ABC's Sunday morning political affairs program, "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."
He also visited Tuesday with the KRMG Election Experience so watch and listen to his views and commentary.

Sarah Palin is obviously a talented lady. Governor, wife, mother, beauty queen and athlete are just a few of the things she has done with great success.
But did you know she was also a sportscaster? Take a look at the video below and see how the potential VP does on camera!
While protesters took center stage and some jail space Monday in St. Paul, there were those who made their presence known in a different way.
On the way out of the XCEL Center Monday evening the KRMG Election Experience ran into a bizzare group of young people who were dancing. Nothing more, just dancing.
Being curious, we tried to talk to the dancers with very little success. Look below to see the results of our efforts as well as some of the folks who were cutting the rug.

Above, l-r: KRMG's Rick Couri, Muskogee Mayor John Hammons, Oklahoma Delegate Don Burdick, KRMG's Joe Kelley
Police arrested nearly 300 protesters Monday as the Republican convention got underway in St. Paul. The Police presence was obvious very early on but it was later in the day when the disgruntled mass moved toward the XCEL Center.
The KRMG Election Experience had to work it's way through a pretty large crowd to get into the arena, see the video of that as well as the confrontations below. .
Her name is Margaret Spellings and you may not be familiar with her but she has a big impact on the lives of your children. Ms. Spellings is the U.S. Secretary of Education and she visited with Joe and Rick on Monday morning.
Being embedded with the Oklahoma delegation means seeing the big names. One of those is congressman Tom Cole.
The good congressman stopped by the KRMG booth on Monday to talk convention, the VP pick, and possible cabinet posts for Oklahomans!
The KRMG Election Experience spares no expense and gives up all sleep in order to bring you the happenings at the Republican Conevention this week in St. Paul.
Dark and early we rise and take a death defying ride in a hotel shuttle (really, you should ride with this guy) in order to get the inside stories for you.
Always having a video camera in hand, Joe Kelly shows you the set up here in the frozen north.
The comparisons are not easy. The Democratic convention in Denver last week more resembled a rock concert. The Republican convention in St. Paul, somewhat interrupted by hurricane Gustav is a more refined event.
When the KRMG Election Experience arrived at the XCEL Energy center, we took the time to video the arena and show you the set-up.
A major hurricane can put a hitch in your git-a-long. So has been the case with the Republican convention and hurricane Gustav.
Monday also brought more news about John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin. ABC's Ann Compton, a White House reporter since 1974 stopped by the KRMG Election Experience Monday to visit with Joe and Rick.
The Republican National Convention is underway in St. Paul but with unique circumstances. Hurricane Gustav is getting a great deal of the attention as it hits the Gulf coast and it has changed a great deal of what is happening here in St. Paul.
Jamie Dupree is our Washington reporter, he stopped by for his first report from St. Paul as part of the KRMG Election Experience.
As we travel for the KRMG Election Experience, there are some perks. In the quest to find out hotel on Sunday, we found a Minnesota landmark.
The Mall of America is largest mall in our nation and a vacation destination for some folks as well.
Joe Kelley used his handy dandy video recorder to give you an idea of how big that monster of a building is.
Last week in Denver the Democratic National Convention was more like a rock concert. The atmosphere and the city were electric with anticipation.
Minneapolis/St. Paul seems a bit more relaxed about the big week.
No billboards, very few signs outside the airport, and not a lot of buzz from the locals. The Republican Convention seems to be a great deal more low key as you can see from the video!
As the Election Experience quick strike team was trying to find it's hotel on Sunday, they ran into something unique.
Wandering across a road near a wooded area was a decent size snapping turtle.
Being folks who never pass up the chance for a piece of video, we turned the Dodge Charger around and if you listen close, you will hear Joe Kelley confirm our thoughts....."yep, that's a turtle."
Watch the video for yourself!
So now we're two for two. The KRMG Election Experience started at the wrong hotel in Denver and repeated the error in St. Paul.
As usual, Joe Kelley had video running and caught the whole escapade on tape!
One to Minneaspolis/St. Paul! The KRMG Election Experience has landed in the great north at the Republican National Convention.
One of the most interesting aspects of broadcasting from these events is the cities themselves and how they handle the crush of people.
Once we landed at the airport here, we were greeted by the official "welcoming committee" (Denver didn't have one) and these ladies were so neat, we just had to show you the encounter!
