Gallagher-Iba Arena's Eddie Sutton Court set for re-design
On-line voting available at www.okstate.com

STILLWATER, Okla. (OSU Athletics) -- Oklahoma State's athletic department is offering fans the opportunity to vote for one of eight possible designs of Eddie Sutton Court in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Fans can view the different possible designs at the official OSU website at www.okstate.com.

"The winning design from the poll won't necessarily be the final design of the court, but it does give the fans a voice to let us know what they'd prefer," said Jordan Smith, web designer for the OSU athletics department. "There's a comments section on the page where the fans can leave any feedback or suggestions for the design.

"As for the design process itself, we wanted to go with something relatively conservative from the beginning," Smith continued. "The legacy of Gallagher-Iba Arena was a very important factor in the design, so we had to be careful not to do anything that could diminish the history that's been made on Eddie Sutton Court. I think when the design is finalized, we'll have something that's unique to Oklahoma State and honors Gallagher-Iba Arena's great tradition."

Oklahoma State typically repaints the 70-year-old court every other summer. However, due to the installation of new bleacher seating last year, the last paint job took place during the summer of 2005.

The court design has undergone two major re-designs in the last decade. A major overhaul took place during the summer of 2001, following the unveiling of the new Oklahoma State marks and type-font. The new primary OSU mark was added at mid-court and the Oklahoma State font was used down the baselines. The OSU brand was also added to the free-throw lanes.

During the summer of 2005, former coach Eddie Sutton's signature was added to the court and an orange-to-black fade was included in the free-throw lanes.

A final design will be determined in the next few weeks with work to be completed later this summer.
