University of Tulsa senior guard Ben Uzoh (San Antonio, Texas) was named the Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced today by the league office.

In two Conference USA wins last week, senior Ben Uzoh averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds, while shooting 63-percent from the field and 89-percent from the free throw line. In a 14-point win over Tulane, Uzoh scored a game-high 20 points and had 6 assists and 3 rebounds and shot 64-percent from the field.

In Tulsa's 86-80 road win at Houston, Uzoh had his eighth 20-point scoring game of the season with 21 points, while adding 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

On the season, Uzoh has a team-leading 16.9 scoring average and 4.5 assists pre game. He is shooting 51-percent from the field, 41-percent from three-point range and 78-percent from the free throw line, while collecting 4.7 rebounds from his point guard position.

Uzoh has become one of the premier players in Golden Hurricane history. He ranks among the top-10 in five statistical categories, including fourth on the all-time scoring list with 1,671 points, seventh for assists with 329, eighth in steals with 143, and ninth for blocks (79) and three-pointers made (148). Uzoh is also in 19th place on the school's career rebounding chart with 610 boards.

It's the second weekly honor for a Golden Hurricane player this year, as junior Justin Hurtt won the award on Dec. 7th, and is also the first career honor for the senior Uzoh.

Tulsa has posted a 12-3 overall record and a 2-0 C-USA mark. The Hurricane will be in action next on Wednesday night in Dallas against the SMU Mustangs. The game can be seen live in Oklahoma on Cox Cable-Channel 117 in Tulsa and Channel 7 in Oklahoma City.
