Another Tulsa Home Invasion Robbery - With Deadly Consequences
From the Tulsa World -
Police are looking for two men who shot and killed a Tulsa man during a home invasion robbery early Tuesday.
Frederick Anthony Wilson, 25, was pronounced dead on the scene after being shot once inside his home in the 4000 block of West 45th Place about 12:30 a.m., Tulsa County Sgt. John Bryant said.
Two men broke into Wilson's home through possibly a window or glass sliding door in the back of the residence, Bryant said. Wilson and his girlfriend were home at the time. The men, one of whom was armed, demanded money. When the residents gave them money, the robbers stated it was not enough, Bryant said. They tied the couple up and searched the home.
Still upset not to find additional money, one of the men shot Wilson, and both of the men left.
Wilson's girlfriend managed to escape and ran to a neighbor's, where the police were called.
Tulsa Police are assisting Tulsa County with the investigation to see whether Tuesday's home invasion is related to one over the weekend.
You'll note that both the Tulsa World and KRMG are utilizing a mugshot in identifying the victim. He is a registered sex offender.
Is the victim's offender status germane to his violent death?
Perhaps not directly. Perhaps not at all.
But, it may point to a lifestyle that puts a person into a higher risk level for violent crime.
There's always an important distinction to be made between random crimes and familiar crimes. Tulsa County Sheriff's Deputies will determine whether the victim knew the perpetrators in this crime.
If this crime proves to be random, as the Sunday morning home invasion near Utica Square Sunday morning appears to be, then this will and should cause many Tulsans to think twice about home security.
What others are saying
- your perspective helpsIt does help the average person to know if a home invasion is at the home of an absolutely innocent citizen or if this person has been involved in criminal activity in the past. Past convictions are part of the public record and help us know how to interpret the information about a crime like this, i.e. Are we in danger of this happening to us? etc. Thanks KRMG for being one of the first, if not this first media outlet to disclose this info.
- not necessarywas it really necessary to put him as a sex offender that didn't have nothin to do with the story or why he got killed,u might as not put nothin at all,and to the one's with negative comments what if this was your family and someone was talkin negative about them, this was my cousin, and he was a good person,he did not rape anyone so get the real story before you post stuff on here, you can't judge anyone because your not God!!! so have some respect!!
- invasionGeesh.
This is a tough crowd.
For Pete's sake, someone got killed. Have a little compassion. He has a family you know. Imagine how you'd feel if this happend to your family - home invaderI bet this was drugs or gang related. he likely got what he deserved.
- home invasionI can't say that the dude will be missed. Good riddance!
- sex offenderWhy is it necessary to call him a sex ofrfener? It's not at all relevent to the story. whats your agenda?!
- Forget the PitBull!Tim...
You must be crazy. A pitbull? Come on...a gun would work a hell of a lot better than a pitbull any day of the week!
A note to all: if you don't have a gun in your home, get one before a Democrat takes office! - There's a rumor......that this shooting was from a fallout over dividing the goods stolen from the Utica Square robbery, and that this man was one of the perpetrators. That narrows the circle a little.
I agree, his lifestyle is germane; thugs tend to hang around with thugs, and it's not the kind of crime that could happen to "anybody" because not everybody knows thugs. As for security, I am the person who cares most about my own life, so I have the biggest responsibility to defend it. :) - InvasionI'm reminded of the story about the 5 year old kids attacked by the pitbulls when he jumped over the fence - pitbulls would stop most of these home invadors.
