Police in Broken Arrow say a man has been arrested on charges of taking photos of an 8-year-old girl as she was showering.

Police say Michael Lloyd Baker was hired to paint at the home and managed to get into the bathroom where the girl was in the shower and took photographs of her.

The girl told her father who then called police.

Court records indicate Baker was released from prison in October after serving nine years of a 15-year sentence for second-degree burglary.

The Department of Corrections shows he has previous convictions for indecent exposure.

You may also recall the case of Elizabeth Smart - the Utah teenager who was kidnapped and held captive for nine months by a homeless man hired to do work around the house.

The Smart case gave me cause to NEVER permit any subcontractors into my home without a continuous escort.

Certainly the means exist now to conduct close-to-instant background checks on any subs that show up at your house. If the subs aren't willing to submit to the check, then a homeowner can send them away.

The exact time-line of events in this BA case is not known to me, but it is noteworthy that many of us dads of little girls would likely have a visceral reaction to this painter/offender that would fall slightly short of calling the police.

Hell hath no fury like a dad seeking to protect his little girl's innocence.
