Tulsa Tea Party - April 15th from Noon - 2pm at Lafortune Park

Americans are fed up. Fed up with big government, fed up with high taxes, and fed up with broken promises.
But what can you do? How can you let the people in charge know where you stand?
You'll be glad to know that we have a way for you to get involved!
Join KRMG for our Tulsa Tea Party as citizens from Broken Arrow, Jenks, and Tulsa stand together on April 15th from noon until 2:00 p.m. at LaFortune Park. Gather with us on the southwest corner of the park and listen as speakers like Congressman John Sullivan and Tulsa County Assessor Ken Yazel share their stories.
Our theme for this Tea Party is simple; Repeal the Pork, Cut Taxes
Remember, we are in this together so check out the links below to find some interesting and exciting things happening in and around our Tea Party.

You may be asking yourself what you do at Tea Party? Well, we have some suggestions of what to do/bring on Wednesday at LaFortune.
- 1. Make 5-10 signs with legible slogans that send a clear message to the public and the media. Write in BIG LETTERS.
- 2. Tell your friends, family, co-workers and everyone else you know about the protest. Build an rsvp email list so that you can provide quick updates if something changes. You should also create a facebook group so that the group can communicate with one another.
- 3. Write a press release and email, mail and fax copies to the local tv stations, radio stations and newspapers. Call the reporters that cover local events or politics and leave messages on their voice mail.
- 4. On the day of your protest, show up with your group, be loud, visible, happy and engage the public. Wave your signs, make lots of noise and move around to get attention. If reporters interview you, give them some good sound bytes for their stories. Stay on message and keep your answers short and coherent.
- 5. Add your pictures, video and an after-action report to your facebook group, and send this stuff to the bloggers and reporters that you originally contacted. Ask them to post the photos, story and video.
- 6. Organize a carpool and go find a friend in your neighboring town or county and help them organize a protest there. You and your people are now veterans and should be able to keep the momentum going around your area.
The Tea Party is being supported by many nationwide organizations like the American Family Association, Institute for Liberty, and Smart Girl Politics.
There is even a Tea Party song, take a look and a listen in the video below!
How about making some signs? We have a few suggestions for what those signs might say!

What others are saying
- Tea PartyMake sure the tea is purchased from your local farmers/coop ;)
Your poster board is recycled, your markers are non toxic, you pack your lunch and it is organic, wait most everything contains hydrogen! My sign would say "Sally Kern out of office!" and Legalize Gay Marriage! I pay high property taxes in South Tulsa and we home school and don't mind paying taxes! Oklahoma does suck when you travel charging tolls and rarely a port a john to pee in! Not to mention the bad roads. Emsa trying to bill you for an ambulance ride that is paid for on your taxes! I cant even go to Walmart without being told Im going to hell if Im not whatever religion the fanatic is that is trying to save me when I just need to shop! Old Bush and older Bush really made a mess of this country!
Free Palestine! Stock pile long term foods, pay off your debt and live below your means. I can feed a family of 5 on less the 250$ a month match coupons to sales and get food for free and I dont even have to. To many people waste their money and live above their means so even if you cant picket whatever you are into, make good life choices. - Tea Party picsHere are my pics of the 4/15 Tea Party:

Enjoy, but please credit 1 Shot Productions, Inc. if you use any of them. - PROVE ITI know that Obama had to register with the FEC and show a certified copy of a birth certificate, but why wont he show us. I would, i let people see my birth certificate all the time. There is nothing on a birth certificate that could be used maliciously. Show us your BC BO.
- enoughSpending 3 trillion dollars is one thing but raising taxes on the rich is where i draw the line. Its simply not fair. Please protest this for me as i don't enjoy standing outside or holding things for very long.
- Tea PartyThis is all Gearge W. Bush's fault!
- TEA PARTYI AM SO GLAD TO SEE AMERICANS STANDING UP FOR THEIR RIGHTS! I AGREE WITH JOE. I WOULD LIKE OBAMA TO PROVE HIS CITIZENSHIP.
- GovernmentI've seen this scenario before (hmmm... Russia/Soviet Union) thats it. People need wake up and realize what is going on around them! Their rights are being trampled on daily. Read the Constitution know your rights
- ObamaProve his citizenship, show cause why he should not be decertified as president whil we still have a country.
- I applaud youI applaud each and every one of you for standing up and being heard when you feel your government has wronged you. I wholeheartedly disagree with your message, but I applaud your spirit.
- tulsa tea partyThere sure was change as we are becoming the USSA "United Socialist States of America." I will be at the Tea Party.
- why is rightIts public service not
spend other people's money service - right on brothaI love your comment Gary Anderson! Tell it like it is! The time for mincing words is over. Either you are outraged that your children will be inheriting a debilitating debt and their rights will be all but extinguished or your not. Oh well I plan on fighting for mine, good luck to you!
- FREEFREE medical care. FREE welfare. FREE food stamps. FREE housing. The point is: nothing is FREE. Someone else is paying for it. Every person who works and pays taxes is paying for your "free ride." WE are middle class America, and we are sick of it. GET A JOB. PAY YOUR OWN WAY.
- Bring your friends!I am bringing pork and bologna, because that what the administration is feeding us!
Steve, someone on another site mentioned that if you have a protest on a weekend, it barely gets any media coverage. I'll wave a sign for you! - CAN'T get off work???If your kid was sick at school, you'd be there like a shot. If they had 48" LCD's for $299 bye! YEAH RIGHT! Our founding fathers dedicated their LIVES, their FORTUNES, and their sacred HONOR to free us, and WE can't get off work, or take an extra hour for lunch! SHAME ON YOU!!! An employer who was thinking PROFIT would car pool his whole company to the Tea Party (unpaid) and get the company name on the front page nationally. When you say "you can't get off work", you REALLY mean, "I'll take any crap my keepers throw at me, and keep quiet, because I am AFRAID to stand up for my God given rights".
- holyhellrider@msn.comGive me market failure or give me death!
- WhyWhy in the world would anyone schedule this when the people who would support it the most are working?? I would love to attend this but someone has to pay for my mortgage...and several others thanks to the idiots in charge!!

- Tulsa Tea PartyEven though this is "billed" as a Tea Party, it is far more encompassing than to protest Taxes. It is a Day wide-Nation wide protest of many things!
The basuc rights or free speech, our 2ns Amendment rights, the rights of all leagal citizens to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. This rally is to show our "officials" that we are not going to take it any more!!That they work for us, not us for them and all their "pork projects"! People, we either do it now or we will pay for this apathy later!
So come the the Tea Party, bring some Tea and a bag of Porkskins!
Make you signs and dress in Black. - Tea partyWish it was on a weekend, Veterans park is too far to drive to during lunch time.
Can we get a second event scheduled for Saturday or after 5 on a week day? - TaxesThe Tea Party is a good idea, I hope it works. I plan to be there.
We also need to protest high property taxes. While the value of our home is declining but the property taxes continue to go up! I pay more in property taxes now than the entire house payment including mortgage insurance and taxes on my first house.
It now takes one person to pay the taxes and the other to pay the bills.
