In terms of radio business, I can hardly recall being involved in a radio transaction as massive and noteworthy as what KRMG has done today.

At 3:00pm Monday, March 16, Tulsa's #1 News, Weather and Traffic station expanded its reach and influence across Oklahoma by adding an FM signal to the broadcast. News Talk KRMG is now heard on its traditional home of AM740 and now FM102.3.

AM740 has a massive signal that reaches great distances across the length of Oklahoma. But, the weakness of AM740 is the limitations of north-south signal strength. The signal strength of AM radio across the US also faces limitations when it comes to penetrating large buildings, such as offices and some homes.

Adding FM102.3 to our stable of delivery platforms will nearly eliminate any of the weaknesses that AM740 presented our listeners.

KRMG is in the news and information delivery business. The means through which we deliver news and information evolves with technology and opportunity. You can hear News Talk KRMG on AM740, FM102.3, KRMG.COM and Cox Cable 960.

Details about Spirit 102.3.

What others are saying

  • To all Christain listeners
I can't believe what i'm hearing from you, whining about the christian music chanel being replaced with a very educational chanel that keeps you informed on the condition of our country. I can listen to christian music any time, but as a christian it is your duty to educuated your self on what is happening to our country. I feel this is the reason our country is in the condition it is in because of this kind of mentality of thinking. You did to listen and learn because if you don't a lot more will be taken away from then just a christain music chanel.
  • Police Fire Layoffs
Just wondering what it would take for Garth Brooks to have a concert at BOK and have a profits given to the city. He could probably have 2 concerts. Sell tickets for 50 bucks could make a lot of money?? I'm sure Garth would be willing to help. Do the math 50 bucks times 18,000 seats.... Perfect timing for Garth to finally play at the BOK.
  • NBA Game 2nite
Why is the NBA Scrimmage game tonight at the BOK Center not being advertised much? I've heard more about the TU game tonight more than enough times. Not saying it's not a bigger draw. But the NBA game is getting little to NO attention. And Tulsa wants to bring a WNBA team in? Yeah right! If tulsa doesn't care about a NBA game it certainly won't support a WNBA
  • Something "Smells" in regards to a recent phone call....
Today I recieved a strange phone call from an anyomous caller. He asked me if I would answer a "1 Topic Survey Question".
He went on to say the following:
IF you were to vote today for the New Mayor of Tulsa...Who would you vote for?"
Then he interjected 3 Mayoral Candidates names....
MY answer was "Norris Streetman" ...he quickly replyed..."Who?" I said " you left his name Off of your ballot...Norris Streetman...."
    He then rudely Hung Up....!
I have his phone number handy from my caller I.D.
I hope this isn't going to be a common practice for those seeking election...to treat other voters in such a manner. Sincerely.
    Jerry
  • It's great
I work in a very large building that manufactures commercial air planes, and now for the first time I get to listen to my favorite conservative radio station with out the cracking and popping and fading in and outs. For all you liberals tune in and get educated, your country is on the verge of being taken away from you along with your freedom.
  • get over it
Oh no, the Christian music station is gone. Boo hoo, get over it, pop a Micheal whatever his name is CD in. This is a huge positive for radio.
  • Jerry Doyle
I just moved to the area and find myself listening to your station more than the others, but I think you would do well adding "The Jerry Doyle" show to your schedule. He is extremely well spoken and knowledgeable, and as an Independent conservative, instead of just a Republican, he has a different yet similar perspective to add a bit of variety to your line-up.
  • change
well so far the only change that I've seen/heard that's Good so far w/out harming our kids or grand kids, is the fact that KRMG has finally made it to FM! :) yeah it's sad spirit went away... but you know all that "other news station" you listen to? well i can tell you for a FACT that theeey aren't telling you the Whole story (but Only the governments side, that They want you to know). KRMG tells you EVERYTHING Plus the Other side the government doesn't want you to know. sure krmg can be "crude and rude". it's only that way b/c it's the truth slapping you in the face saying WAKE the F* UP AMERICA! why are you following someone around who's spoon feeding you nonsense that they've candy coated so you'll take it?
  • 102.3 talk show - Friday, March 27, 9 am
I won't be tuning in again!!! This morning I thought I was going to be able to listen to Spirit 102.3 on a Friday since I was on vacation. But, sadly, KRMG talk show was on instead of the Christian music I was looking forward to. Whoever the talk show host was was sarcastic, rude, and crude on each subject he discussed. But, I guess that's what KRMG wants to air now, so that's their call. After all, it's all about money! I won't ever listen to it again! You may not like our President, but to call him a Marxist? C'mon! Also, I happem to know a few "ladies with buns" (which by the way, made him shudder when he thought of them), who couldn't care less if the Devil Rays changed their names or not! Thanks for the chance to tell you I don't agree with your choice of "Cheery Morning Talk Show Hosts"! Oops, I guess I can be sarcastic too. :) deb
  • To Travis
Spirit will not return. Tulsa is officially out of FM frequencies, according to the FCC. Cox Radio owns 4 FM stations and 1 AM station. The FM stations include Tulsa's highest rated country station, Tulsa's only Hot Adult Contemporary Station, and Tulsa's only true Classic Rock station. All are doing very well in the ratings. Unless Cox buys an existing station (unlikely), Spirit will only exist on the internet.
  • listened to both before
KRMG sounds great on FM, and now I can listen in the evenings without the familiar pop and crackle. I'm still sad to see Spirit taken off the air. Are we out of frequency's in the Tulsa area? Is there any possibility Cox will bring Spirit back, maybe on another channel?
  • LOVE IT!
I can't even begin to tell you how much our family loves the new FM option! It's so nice to be able to hear what everyone is saying without all the added noise that we got when we listened on AM! We listen everyday and will continue to do so! Thank you!
  • Christians?
"Thanks for nothing", "I will no longer listen and cancel my cable", and sarcasm. Very un-Christian attitudes some of these so-called "Christians" are taking.
  • Nice!!
I have been a loyal listener since back in the day when John Earling was Broadcasting. This change into th FM world is a good way to inform a wider population. I see that many are upset about Spirit 102 going away. I say bring back the Christian music on AM radio and leave KRMG on FM. Good call in my book. The sound is amazing, and I never knew that the station could sound so good! Besides, I think Joe Kelly should be heard. He has Done a fine job since John Earling left. And I believe he has Filled his shoes well. In fact, Joe should go national!!! Kudos to you Joe! I am still a fan and always will be!
  • Very Refreshing
I think the added coverage for people who had a hard time picking up the AM signal will prove to be a welcome change. And what an improvement in the sound! I never knew this station could sound so good!

Now, I understand some people are upset, but one has to remember: Radio is a business; not a ministry, nor a charity. Sometimes, business decisions have to be made. It's not an anti-Christian position at all. Furthermore, if you can comment on this page, you can still listen to Spirit online. So I'd say some folks could stand to take a deep breath, and get some perspective on things.

Keep up the good work, guys!
  • Sorry about our loss
While it is nice that you are improving your signal, the bottom line you forgot to mention is money. Cox owns several other stations in town, any others of them are carbon copies of half a dozen other stations in town. Spirit 102.3 had on competitor, and they were totally different. It is too bad you had to deprive me of the only Christian station that I listen to. But I guess money is religion too.
  • Spirit 102.3
Thanks for the warning. I along with hundreds if not thousands of listeners & christians will no longer listen to KRMG and will cancel Cox Cable.
  • 102.3
It would be nice it you would let my comments post. I have the right to say what I think and everyone else has the right to see it.
  • 102.3
Thanks for nothing. We need more Christian stations not less.
  • 102.3
Just wondering why you have to get rid of one of the best Christian radio stations around. We already have plenty of talk radio stations & lots of other stations that you could have taken over instead of this one. There are not enough Christian stations as it is. Thanks for nothing.
  • Change
Sadly you are drpriving us of the best christian radio station there was in Tulsa.
  • Spirit 102.3
Well, thanks for the heads up!!!! I will no longer listen or watch.....
  • Ohhh
Does this mean we get faster traffic updates now on the FM? I love John and wish I could call him every time I see brake lights. He never leaves my heart a flutter.
  • oh.
So, adding an FM signal. Cool, but not nearly as earth-shattering as you're making it out to be.
  • Nice Going
Kept me on pins and needles all day.. but was well worth it. I will say I was nervous. (Drew knows how I hate change, hehehehehe) coming in Crystal Clear... Wtg..
