Picks
  • Friday. Jason Boland and the Stragglers. If you thought yesterday's turkey dinner was downhome, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Doors at 7pm, Cain's Ballroom.
  • Saturday. Garden Glow. See thousands of lights come to life in the Philbrook Gardens for free. 4-8pm, Philbrook Museum.
  • Sunday. ABA Grand National. The wheels are in motion for the greatest race on earth for BMX fans young and old. Friday-Sunday, Expo Square.

  • Cancer Sucks! Concert. Rev Theory performs, along with some half-dozen guests. Saturday, doors at 5:30pm, Cain's Ballroom.
  • HAMMER DOWN and Friends. See HAMMER DOWN and at least seven other band buddies. Sunday, doors at 6pm, Cain's Ballroom.

  • TU v. Memphis. Wear blue to head out into the crowds this Black Friday. Friday, 2:30om, Chapman Stadium.
  • Turkey Trot. Bye-bye, Thanksgiving dinner flab. Friday, 9am, 11th and Riverside.
  • Oilers v. Texas. It's ladies night - free chair massages and more for the girls, girls. Friday, 7:35pm, BOK Center.
  • 66ers v. Utah. Celebrate the first tip-off of the 2009-2010 season. Friday, 7pm, Tulsa Convention Center.
  • XFL Final Fury. Catch 30 gladiators, including a two-time UFC Champion, put up some serious dukes. Friday, doors at 7pm, SpiritBank Event Center.
  • OU v. OSU. It's Bedlam time, baby. Saturday, 11am, Norman.

  • Arvest Winterfest. It's the first weekend of the new and improved, second-annual Winterfest. Lace up your ice skates and go. Now-Jan. 4; Friday, 4-10pm; Saturday, noon-10pm; Sunday, 12pm-10pm, on Third Street between Denver and Frisco.
  • Rhema Christmas Lights. Making Tulsa visible from space for the 27 years running. Now-Christmas, Rhema Bible College.
  • Lights on the Hill at Chandler Park. The best aerial view of neighborhood Christmas lights in Tulsa. Fridays and Sundays now-Dec. 27, 6-9pm, Chandler Park.
  • Wonderland of Lights. 650,000 lights, carols, wagon rides and cider. Yum, yum. Fridays-Sundays, now-Dec. 20, 5-9pm, Woolaroc near Bartlesville.
  • Christmas Kingdom. There's nothing like a 20-foot, inflatable Santa to get a person in the holiday spirit. Friday-Christmas, The Castle of Muskogee.
  • Prelude to Christmas. An evening of music, lights, cookies and cocoa with the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra. Saturday, 7pm, Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lyon Chapel Fine Arts Center.
  • Festival of Trees. Even Christmas trees have their couture world, and no one like Philbrook can show them off. Now-Dec. 13, Philbrook Museum.
  • Garden of Lights. One million - that's one thousand thousand - little sparkling lights. Honor Heights Park in Muskogee.

  • T-Town Trolley Coat Drive. Get free tickets to the Friday night Oilers game with the donation of a coat to benefit homeless Tulsans. Friday, 10am-5:30pm, various Tulsa-area locations.
  • Buy Nothing Thanksgiving. The Tulsa rendition of an international day of protest against consumerism, plus a turkey dinner. Friday, 1-6pm, Tulsa Free Store.

  • Fantastic Mr. Fox. An animated adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl story. Rated PG.
  • Ninja Assassin. A better name for a movie, there rarely is. Rated R.
  • Old Dogs. Robin Williams and John Travola pair up to make another one of those movies about bachelors inept when it comes to kids. Rated PG.
  • Free for Kids: Velveteen Rabbit. Unwind from shopping by taking the kids to sit in a nice, quiet, dark theater for an hour and a half. Saturday, 11am, Circle Cinema.
