  • BUDGET CRISIS: Tulsa City Councilor Jack Henderson at 10am this morning will propose in council committee meeting that Tulsa raise sales tax by a penny, raising total rate to 9.517-percent. Public Safety Tax
  • The Tulsa police union plans to meets with Mayor Dewey Bartlett on Tuesday. F.O.P President Phil Evans said the first meeting with the mayor since the layoffs will include talk about contract negotiations. Interim Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan said this weekend he wants to put some of the 124 laid off police officers back on the street by this week.
  • TPD dispatcher: "We don't have any officers to send to these crashes"...to an off-duty officer working multiple crashes off-duty on his spare time to help on 71st street bridge.
  • ELECTION: Meanwhile, Jenks voters today will decide, amongst other things, whether to permanently raise sales tax rate to 9.267% from 8.517%.

  • After reports of braking system problems, Toyota recalls 400,000 of its 2010 Prius models.
  • People who drink at least two sugary sodas a week have an increased risk of developing cancer of the pancreas, and researchers suspect the culprit is sugar, a new study shows.

  • With just four days until the Games' opening ceremonies, the Canadian city still has not seen any snow. Ironically, parts of neighboring America have been buried under a two-foot blanket of snow after the worst blizzard in 90 years.
  • The federal government announced it would remain closed on today and most schools planned to shut down as residents of the mid-Atlantic struggled to dig out from a blizzard that dumped two feet of snow on the region.
  • McDonald's Day of Love today from 11am-1pm as Denver Foxx broadcasts live from McD's on Yale just north of 71st street. 59-cent hamburgers and 69-cent cheeseburgers with proceeds going to Tulsa Ronald McDonald House.
