See the Drillers new uniforms!

The Tulsa Drillers revealed new team uniforms and caps during a press conference Monday afternoon at ONEOK Field. The new look for the Drillers will feature a rich, royal blue as the team's new primary color.
With the new uniforms, the Drillers have kept their primary logo, while tweaking the colors within it.

The new home uniforms are white with blue trim and feature the Drillers script logo across the front. The home jerseys will also have the player's names across the backs.

The road uniforms feature light grey pants and jerseys with Tulsa printed across the front.

The Drillers will now have only one on-field game cap. It is also a solid, royal blue with the team's "T" logo in front outlined in a light blue. It is the same "T" that was introduced in 2004, but the colors have been changed and enhanced to approve its appearance. It will be worn for all home and road games.

A third, alternate jersey was also introduced during the press conference. It is solid blue with copper piping and has the Drillers logo across the front. This jersey will be worn on special occasions for both home and road games.

To view a photo album of the new uniforms, Click Here. Drillers General Manager Mike Melega said the team wanted to take advantage of its move into a new stadium to change and improve the club's look on the field.

"When we became a Colorado Rockies affiliate in 2003, we did not change our uniforms until the following year," Melega said. "In the end, we felt like that was a mistake, and we wanted to make sure we took advantage of our move into a brand-new facility and offer a brand-new look," he added.

"Part of the thinking with our change is to give the team a strong, primary color that will allow our fans to relate with our players. We want to encourage fans to wear blue to the games and turn ONEOK Field into a sea of blue."

The new caps are already on sale at ONEOK Field and at TulsaDrillers.com. An assortment of T-shirts, jerseys and sweatshirts will also be available shortly.

The Drillers are scheduled to open the 2010 season with the opening of ONEOK Field on Thursday, April 8. Tulsa will host Corpus Christi at 7:05PM in the first game.

Oklahoma State is 22-10 overall this season with a 9-7 mark in the Big 12 Conference, good for a tie for sixth place. OSU is competing in its 24th NCAA Tournament and has an all-time record of 38-22. The Cowboys defeated No. 1 national seed Kansas 85-77 earlier this season in Stillwater, and defeated No. 2 seed Kansas State 73-69 in Manhattan, Kan. OSU is 32nd in the latest RPI ratings.

Oklahoma State is led by James Anderson who ranks third nationally in scoring at 22.6 points per game. Obi Muonelo is the lone senior for the Cowboys this season, and he has become one of the best all-around players in school history. Keiton Page, along with the aforementioned two players, form one of the best trios of long-range shooters in the country. Matt Pilgrim and Marshall Moses combine to average 16 points and 15 rebounds in the post position for OSU.

First-Round Matchup
Oklahoma State will travel to Milwaukee, Wis., this week to take on Georgia Tech in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cowboys and Yellowjackets will tip off at 6:15 p.m. inside the Bradley Center on Friday, March 19. Georgia Tech finished with a 22-12 record overall, 7-9 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, good for seventh place in the league. The Yellowjackets are 33rd in the latest RPI ratings.

Up Next
The winner of Friday's game between Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech will play the Ohio State-UC Santa Barbara winner on Sunday, March 21 with the game time to be determined. The Cowboys are 2-0 all-time against both the Buckeyes and the Gauchos, but hasn't played Ohio State since 1989 or UCSB since 1993. The Buckeyes are the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Regional, while UC Santa Barbara is the No. 15 seed.

Quick Notes
James Anderson ranks third nationally in scoring at 22.6 points per game ... Anderson needs three points to move past Byron Houston and into second place on the all-time single-season scoring list in OSU history ... with 255 rebounds this season, Marshall Moses ranks 20th in school history for boards in a single season; he needs just five to move into 17th place ... Oklahoma State ranks 15th nationally in three-pointers made per game, due in large part to three Cowboys individual rankings: Obi Muonelo (78th), Anderson (102nd) and Keiton Page (126th) ... Oklahoma State is 6-6 this season against teams competing in the NCAA Tournament, including wins over No. 1 seed Kansas, No. 2 seed Kansas State, No. 3 seed Baylor and No. 5 seed Texas A&M.

Oklahoma State in the NCAA Tournament
Oklahoma State is making its 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. That total ranks 26th among all NCAA Tournament appearances nationally. The Cowboys have 38 NCAA Tournament wins, the 18th-most victories by any team nationally. Oklahoma State returns to the NCAA for the second-straight season after a three-year hiatus. Since the seeding process began in 1979, Oklahoma State's highest seed was a No. 2 on three occasions -- 1992, 2004 and 2005. The Cowboys' lowest seeding was a No. 11 in 2001. Since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985, Oklahoma State is 12-2 in first-round contests. The Pokes are 6-6 in second-round games. Oklahoma State has played just four teams more than once in the NCAA Tournament. The Cowboys are 2-0 against Arkansas, 1-1 vs. Syracuse and Pittsburgh, and 0-2 against Kansas State. Georgia Tech will join that small group this year. OSU is 0-1 vs. the Yellowjackets, having lost in the 2004 national semifinals.

Series History vs. Georgia Tech
Oklahoma State is 2-1 all-time against the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets and all three games have been played on neutral courts. Tech won the last meeting between these two teams, a 67-65 victory over OSU in the national semifinals of the 2004 Final Four in San Antonio, Texas. The previous meeting was in the finals of Preseason NIT in 1993 when the Cowboys handed the Yellowjackets a 78-71 defeat in Madison Square Garden in New York. The first meeting took place in December of 1981 when Oklahoma State defeated Georgia Tech 59-57 in the Sun Bowl Classic in El Paso, Texas.

Against the ACC
Oklahoma State is 8-7 all-time against members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, with the three previous games with Georgia Tech being the most against any ACC member. The Cowboys are 1-0 against Florida State, North Carolina, NC State and Virginia Tech; 1-1 vs. Duke and Wake Forest; and 0-1 against Boston College, Clemson, Maryland, and Miami (Fla.).

OSU's most recent meeting with an ACC school was on March 15, 2006, when the Cowboys lost at Miami, 62-59, in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.

Last Time vs. Georgia Tech
In the national semifinals of the 2004 Final Four, Joey Graham scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Ivan McFarlin added 16 and eight. But, it was the inside play of Luke Schenscher that ended the Cowboys dream season. The Aussie center recorded 19 points and 12 rebounds. John Lucas hit a trey to tie the game with 26 seconds remaining, but a Will Bynum layup with 1.5 seconds left gave Tech the 67-65 victory.

Oklahoma State -- Georgia Tech Ties
Oklahoma State freshman Torin Walker is a native of Columbus, Ga., approximately 110 miles south-southwest of Atlanta, home of the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets. None of the eight players on the Ramblin' Wreck's roster from the state of Georgia lives within 100 miles of Columbus.

Cowboy freshman Ray Penn attended Fort Bend Travis High School in Richmond, Texas. Richmond, a Houston suburb, is located approximately 23 miles from Bellaire, home of Georgia Tech sophomore Nick Foreman. Yellowjacket sophomore Derek Craig is from Klein Collins High School in Spring, Texas, approximately 52 miles north-northeast of Richmond.

Series History vs. Ohio State
Two of the three OSU's in this country -- Oklahoma State and Ohio State -- have played just twice in school history on the hardwood. Oklahoma State has won both games, which were both played on a neutral court. The first game was played on Dec. 20, 1958, as part of the Kentucky Tournament. The Cowboys won 63-59 in overtime behind a game-high 19 points by Arlen Clark, who went 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. That statistic is significant because Clark led the NCAA in free-throw percentage that season at 85.2 percent.

The only other matchup between the two OSUs was on Dec. 2, 1989, as part of the Tournament of Champions in Charlotte, N.C. The 23rd-ranked Cowboys smashed the Buckeyes 81-59. Richard Dumas scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting, and sophomore Byron Houston recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds and three other Cowboys also scored in double figures.

Travis Ford is 0-2 all-time against Ohio State, with one loss each at Eastern Kentucky and UMass.

Against the Big Ten
Oklahoma State is 11-11 all-time against members of the Big Ten Conference. The Cowboys are 2-0 against Ohio State; 1-0 vs. Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin; 2-2 against Michigan State; 1-2 vs. Michigan; 2-3 against Minnesota; 1-3 vs. Illinois; and 0-1 against Iowa. Oklahoma State has never played Indiana or Northwestern.

OSU's most recent meeting with a Big Ten school was on Nov. 28, 2008, when the Cowboys fell to fifth-ranked Michigan State, 94-79, in the Old Spice Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Oklahoma State -- Ohio State Ties
Oklahoma State junior forward Matt Pilgrim is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, approximately 102 miles from Columbus, home of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State has eight players on its roster from the state of Ohio, but none are within 100 miles of Cincinnati.

James Anderson played this summer with the USA Basketball World University Games team in Belgrade, Serbia. One of his teammates on the squad was Ohio State junior Evan Turner. The team finished 6-1 and won the bronze medal.

Series History vs. UC Santa Barbara
Oklahoma State is 2-0 all-time against UC Santa Barbara, including a 1-0 mark in Stillwater and a 1-0 record on neutral courts. The last time these two teams played on the basketball court was on Dec. 29, 1993, when 20th-ranked OSU defeated the Gauchos, 79-74, in the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. Brooks Thompson scored 20 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 4-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc, and the Cowboy defense forced 20 turnovers by UCSB.

The only other meeting took place on Dec. 16, 1965, when Oklahoma State hosted UC Santa Barbara inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Jim Feamster scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor and the free-throw line, and Bill Fisher added 15 points off the bench. The Gauchos shot just 26.2 percent (11 of 42) from the floor and 15-of-35 (42.9 percent) from the charity stripe. Oklahoma State won 59-37.

Against the Big West
Oklahoma State is 9-3 all-time against members of the Big West Conference. The Cowboys are 2-0 against UC Santa Barbara; 1-0 vs Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, UC Davis and Pacific; 2-2 against Long Beach State; and 1-1 vs Cal State Fullerton.

OSU's most recent meeting with a Big West school was earlier this season, when the Cowboys hosted Pacific inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. James Anderson scored 25 points and Obi Muonelo added 22 as Oklahoma State pulled off the 66-50 victory. The Cowboy defense forced 18 Tiger turnovers and held Pacific to just 25 percent shooting from long range.

Tulsa will play in the NIT on Wednesday night in Akron vs the Kent State Golden Flashes. As always, here is your video look around the Kent State facilities. One note; I mention the shootings here at Kent State and I mistakenly say it was 1968. The shootings occured in 1970, I apologize for the goof. I wouldn't have brought it up at all but a Kent State official approached us when we got to the gym and told us how to get to the memorial set up on the campus. The video is below, enjoy!

Conference USA has released the league football schedule for the 2010 season, and the Golden Hurricane will host Tulane, Rice, UTEP and Southern Miss. Tulsa's non-conference schedule was released on January 8th. The Hurricane will play a total of six Bowl teams from last season.

"We have a very challenging overall schedule, both in Conference USA and with our non-league schedule," said Tulsa Head Coach Todd Graham. "We'll play four of the top-5 teams from a year ago, including first-place East Carolina and third-place Southern Miss from the east, and the top two teams from the west division, Houston and SMU. Three of those games will be on the road, so our league schedule will be extremely difficult."

"Our non-conference schedule with Bowling Green, who had a really good year last season, Oklahoma State, who was one of the top teams in the country last year, and Notre Dame, is very demanding. The overall schedule is one that creates a lot of opportunities for our football program, and one that we'll have to be at our very best. We're excited about our team and the schedule we're presented with in 2010," added Graham.

Four of Tulsa's six road opponents -- Oklahoma State, and C-USA teams East Carolina, SMU and Houston -- were made bowl appearances last year, while a fifth Notre Dame was bowl eligible with six victories in 2009.

Tulsa opens the Conference USA schedule on the first weekend of the season as the Golden Hurricane travels to play two-time defending C-USA Champion East Carolina and new coach Ruffin McNeill. The Hurricane and Pirates will play on Sunday, September 5th in Greenville, NC, a game slated for ESPN2 at 2 pm (ET).

It's the third straight season that Tulsa has opened the Conference USA slate on the road in the season opener. In 2008, the Hurricane opened up at UAB with a 45-22 victory and last year claimed a 37-13 victory over Tulane in New Orleans.

A week later, Tulsa begins its' non-conference schedule with the home opener against Bowling Green on September 11th at H.A. Chapman Stadium. The two teams last played in the GMAC Bowl on Jan. 6, 2008, as the Hurricane claimed a 63-7 victory to improve its' series record against the Falcons to 2-0.

BGSU played in the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl last December, losing in the waning seconds to Idaho, 43-42.

The Hurricane will then travel the Cimarron Turnpike to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys a week later on Sept. 18th. TU and OSU have not played since the 2004 campaign. This contest is the first of a new three-game series that has Tulsa hosting the Cowboys in 2011 and returning to Stillwater in 2012.

Tulsa then closes the month of September with another non-league home game against Central Arkansas on Sept. 25th. Tulsa has played UCA once before, capturing a 62-34 win in the 2008 campaign.

Tulsa gets back into Conference USA play to start the month of October and for the second consecutive season the Hurricane will play its' first three league games on the road.

On October 2, Tulsa continues Conference USA action with a road game at Memphis. The Tigers are under the leadership of first-year coach Larry Porter. Tulsa captured a 33-30 overtime win in the final game of the 2009 season at Chapman Stadium.

Tulsa then will travel to SMU for an October 9th date against the Mustangs. SMU captured a road win in Tulsa last year, 27-13.

The Hurricane will get its first C-USA home game in the fourth week of the conference schedule as Tulsa hosts Tulane on Oct. 16th. Tulsa has won the match-up against the Green Wave in each of the last five seasons since becoming league members and has an overall 5-1 record in the series.

After an open week (Oct. 23), Tulsa will close out its non-conference schedule in the middle of the Conference USA slate, as the Hurricane visits South Bend, Indiana, to play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, under first-year head coach Brian Kelly, on Oct. 30th. It will be the first time that these two teams have played on the gridiron.

The month of November has the Hurricane closing out the regular season with three home games at H.A. Chapman Stadium beginning with the Rice Owls on Nov. 6th. Tulsa has won the last three meetings against the Owls, including a 27-10 win last year.

Tulsa's lone road game in November comes against the defending C-USA West Division Champion Houston Cougars and quarterback Case Keenum. The Hurricane travels to play Houston on Nov. 13th. Last year's game saw the nation's 13th-ranked Cougars kick a last second field goal in Tulsa to claim a 46-45 victory.

The Hurricane returns home for the final two weekends to face West Division foe UTEP on Nov. 20th, and the Eastern Division favorite Southern Miss on the final Saturday of the regular season, Nov. 27th.

Tulsa 2010 Football Schedule
Date Opponent
Sept. 5 at East Carolina*
Sept. 11 BOWLING GREEN
Sept. 18 at Oklahoma State
Sept. 25 CENTRAL ARKANSAS
Oct. 2 at Memphis*
Oct. 9 at SMU*
Oct. 16 TULANE*
Oct. 30 at Notre Dame
Nov. 6 RICE*
Nov. 13 at Houston*
Nov. 20 UTEP*
Nov. 27 SOUTHERN MISS*

* Conference USA Games

We've had our ups and downs this year, never had a long losing streak but never had a long winning streak either. We had a lot of things that would distract most kids happen, but they overcame everything and what I mean by that is Zamal Nixon still has mono and he's playing out there. He's at the latter stages and Kendrick [Washington] and Mo [McNeil] and this kid [Aubrey Coleman] has been playing three weeks now with a badly bruised thigh with a hemotoma problem and he just keeps playing. And it's great to see different people step up. That's really great because we're really proud of our program and our kids, and it's so nice to see some of those young guys step up because they're the future of our program. So anyway we're dancing. We're dancing. What heart. What heart. Heart and execution. To play against a team like that and only make eight turnovers, to battle as hard as we did on the boards, giving up height. For the most part of the second half we went with four guards and gave up the height and these little guys and whoever we had in there, Maurice and Kendrick, did a super job defensively and on the backboard, I'm very proud. You know, when you don't expect it, it's even sweeter. But the way I know I'll feel tomorrow is we ain't done yet. Last year was the first time the University of Houston ever beat UTEP there and it's just we know them, they know us and who executes better and we were the lucky ones. That's all I'll say. UTEP was the best team in the league but I believe in my heart the two best teams in the conference played today."

And he's a beautiful guy. These two guys [Aubrey Coleman, Kelvin Lewis] they should be poster guys for the NCAA. They're great kids, low maintenance leaders and with all players like this, I could coach another 15 years. These guys are just unbelievable."

On what it says about Conference USA when the seventh seed wins the tournament:

"I am so happy for the league that we're going to have at least two teams in. I still say Memphis or UAB would be great representatives too. We just don't get the support because we don't have big-money hookups with certain television networks and that's what it's become today. It's hard to get national television games. We had to go all the way to Alaska for OU [Oklahoma] to play us and that was when OU was rated in the top 10 preseason. When they found out we were going and I insisted we play them in the opening round they tried to get out of it. It's like it's nice because we have a really strong league. Now some of our problems are our own and we got to work on them. What I mean by that some of the teams that are good have got to schedule up a little bit better as much as they can. Those that are down and building maybe have to schedule [down] because of your RPI ... The RPI thing is so absurd. It was so great about 12, 15 years ago. You could go and play someone and just by playing them you gained quality points in your RPI. Some of the schools that are rebuilding need to play the very light schedule. We all as a group have to work together. This league is stronger than it's been since I've been in it except for the first year when we had Louisville, who we beat our first year, and Memphis, who we beat our first year and is still here. All those schools that we lost and I don't want to mention them because I don't want to give them any more publicity than they already get, but we've got some great coaches and ADs and a great office at Conference USA. Chris Woolard heads up the basketball. We've got a lot of great people. Now, hopefully we can all work together a little harder and promote ourselves. I can't stand it when coaches don't promote the other teams. Ah, we lost because we stink. We beat a great team today. When we lost twice to Central Florida, I said, 'Man, they just shipped us. They're a good team and if you don't' come to play against them you're going to get beat. Tulsa's a great team, but they were the marked team coming into the conference this year. They were the ones everybody was shooting for. They had some injuries and it's hard to play with that bullseye on the back. We were disappointing to ourselves and everybody that roots for us or pulls against us who live in our area and we get a lot of that in Texas because of the other schools in Texas. But I had faith in these kids and it's a great league. SMU in the last month of the season was playing unbelievable basketball. I know they lost in the opening round, but they beat Memphis by 10 and they beat us. This is now becoming a league where losses to other league teams won't hurt you if you play those kinds of schedules. It's a shame when you beat somebody with the way the RPI works. Thirty-three percent is your opponent's record or something like that. If you play a team that's played nothing but guarantee games in non-league and they're 0-12 or 13 and go ahead and win their conference with one loss, you get hurt. Something's got to be done with the RPI to straighten it out. Let's talk college football for a second. College football, if they did what we're doing in basketball, in other words, play 10 home games, all guarantee games, the whole world would be screaming about it. In college basketball they don't care if the big State U only leaves home once and plays in a neutral gym which is 30 miles from campus. That's what's going on. I coached 10 years at Texas and didn't have one guarantee game. Not one in 10 years. I hope people talk about it, write about that type of thing because it's all for the good of the game of college basketball and maybe people will start showing up in gyms in December."

Tulsa rally falls short

Tulsa fell behind again in the Conference USA tournament but this time, the other team was UTEP. The Miners, the regular season conference champions, shot 52% from the field and forced 18 Hurricane turnovers on their way to beating TU 75-61 in the semi-finals.

Justin Hurtt finally got hot late in the game and scored 22, Jerome Jordan added 11.
Tulsa also lost Dante Medder late in the first half and the freshman never returned.

Listen here as Tulsa coach Doug Wojcik talks about the game from the locker room.

Now Tulsa can only wait and see if the call from the NIT will come on Sunday night. To see what MIGHT happen take a look at the website NIT-ology. The site updates daily with estimates of the teams that might make the NIT and where they might be seeded.

Jamar Samuels scored 21 of his career-high 27 points in the first half, helping No. 9 Kansas State turn a rematch into a rout with an 83-64 win over Oklahoma State Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament.

Kansas State (25-6) had been waiting to play Oklahoma State again since a home loss in January. The Wildcats opened the game with a big run and closed the first half with an even bigger one, leaving no doubt while tying a school single-season record for wins.

Denis Clemente had 12 points and 10 assists, Jacob Pullen added 19 points and Samuels had 10 rebounds to send Kansas State into Friday's semifinals against the Baylor-Texas winner.

Oklahoma State (22-10) shot poorly and defended even worse, following up an impressive win over rival Oklahoma with a clunker.

The Cowboys will still likely get into the NCAA tournament, but their seeding is sure to drop. Big 12 player of the year James Anderson had 27 points to lead Oklahoma State.

Kansas State had been hoping this game would come.

The Wildcats were riding an emotional high into the first meeting on Jan. 23 after knocking Texas from the top spot in the polls earlier that week. Oklahoma State put a quick end to the euphoria, beating Kansas State 73-69 in the Little Apple for its 12th win in 14 games against the Wildcats since the inception of the Big 12.

The Cowboys won that game by packing into a zone and daring K-State's guards to shoot over them. Clemente and Pullen went a combined 8 of 29, including 6 for 21 from 3-point range, and Oklahoma State ended the Wildcats' Bramlage Coliseum-record 14-game winning streak.

Kansas State seemed to be counting the days to get back at the Cowboys.

Charged up by what felt like a home crowd at the Sprint Center, the Wildcats got off to a good start when the Cowboys opened in man-to-man and kept rolling when they switched to zone, working the ball around for open shots to outscore Oklahoma State 23-8 in the first 8 minutes.

Kansas State wasn't bad on defense, either. Oklahoma State had seven turnovers and just six shot attempts in that span.

The Cowboys tried to make a game of it. Behind two 3-pointers by Keiton Page and one from Anderson, Oklahoma State reeled off a 15-4 run to get within 27-23.

All that seemed to do was make the Wildcats angry.

Led by Samuels, Kansas State closed the half with a 24-3 run, scoring the final 16 points as Oklahoma State missed its final eight shots. Samuels matched his career high with 21 points and had nine rebounds by halftime, scoring on jumpers and flying putbacks, and adding his second 3-pointer just before the buzzer to put Kansas State up 51-26.

The Wildcats made sure Oklahoma State never stood a chance after that, pushing the lead to as much as 33 in the second half.
</block>
