Tulsa native Richard Dowdell fulfilled a professional dream when he joined the KRMG news team in 1974.  
 
A graduate of Bishop Kelley High School and the University of Tulsa, Dowdell has logged thousands of miles covering stories as a KRMG news editor. His duties have carried him as far away as Central America, the Middle East and Europe.  
 
Dowdell's reporting has earned honors from the Associated Press, United Press International and the National Conference of Christians and Jews. He also gained national recognition as winner of UPI's National Best Documentary award for a series of reports on the farm crisis of the early 1980s.  
 
Dowdell and his wife, Noreen, are parents to four children: Matthew, Kathleen, John and Thomas.
