We joined KRMG other citizens from Broken Arrow, Jenks, and Tulsa and stood together on April 15th at LaFortune Park. The crowd heard from speakers like Congressman John Sullivan and Tulsa County Assessor Ken Yazel as they shared their stories.
Our theme for this Tea Party was simple; Repeal the Pork, Cut Taxes

There will be other tea parties to come so keep some of the ideas below to use when we gather again!
- 1. Make 5-10 signs with legible slogans that send a clear message to the public and the media. Write in BIG LETTERS.
- 2. Tell your friends, family, co-workers and everyone else you know about the protest. Build an rsvp email list so that you can provide quick updates if something changes. You should also create a facebook group so that the group can communicate with one another.
- 3. Write a press release and email, mail and fax copies to the local tv stations, radio stations and newspapers. Call the reporters that cover local events or politics and leave messages on their voice mail.
- 4. On the day of your protest, show up with your group, be loud, visible, happy and engage the public. Wave your signs, make lots of noise and move around to get attention. If reporters interview you, give them some good sound bytes for their stories. Stay on message and keep your answers short and coherent.
- 5. Add your pictures, video and an after-action report to your facebook group, and send this stuff to the bloggers and reporters that you originally contacted. Ask them to post the photos, story and video.
- 6. Organize a carpool and go find a friend in your neighboring town or county and help them organize a protest there. You and your people are now veterans and should be able to keep the momentum going around your area.
The Tea Party is being supported by many nationwide organizations like the American Family Association, Institute for Liberty, and Smart Girl Politics.

I do know what i am protesting. Fair tax kills small towns. Small towns don't generate as much income as a town with a great strip of bars and malls. So that tax money goes to where you shop? @Breken. First of all, the 3.1 Trillion includes the bailout spending where as the 3.5 you listed for Obama does not. - Obviously you don't Read eitherThe original Tea Party was not a protest to have a government. It was a protest against increased taxation without representation in Parliment. All of the colonies had governments, just like states now. The colonists didn't want detached aristocrats to make decisions on how they should live and be taxed. Do you know why Wal-Mart/Sam's Club is so successful? It's called buying power. Wal-Mart is so big and they buy so much that they drive down prices. If people don't do business with Wal-Mart they are out of a job. Why can't government practice this Wal-Mart model? The government being the buyer of medications or treatments means you don't have to spend 10$ for an aspirin in the hospital. There are no price differences between generics and real meds. The people have the buying power therefore saving billions on overbilling by medical companies. It works with Wal-Mart and even Disney so why not our government? I thought you were a capitalist?
I have guns. Which is why I was confused about your reference. I love them. Do I need an AR5? No. I can get one at my local gun store(not going to bash any names) If I have a right to have an AR5 so do you and everyone else 18 and over. That scares me. Especially with all the teen violence. Why not say limit weapons just a little? Not all the way.
Did you know that money has no intrinsic value? It’s a promissory note. In god we trust that we can buy something with this worthless piece of paper. The government can just print as much as they want. Its what i meant by allowing the government to spend. They can print more money. Too much would cause inflation which would also be a bad thing. But if you use it to get GDP going back up again from consumer spending then you have a acceptable solution.
Speaking of solutions...Do republicans have any? Is everyone just protesting OBAMA or will there be substantive talk? You say you want a revolution? Well start with city council position...They're hiring!

I apologize that I made that difficult for you to follow. I was referring to your moniker with the Sweden comment and your comment about increasing weapons sale was the reason Switzerland was included. Again, I did not mean to confuse you so badly.
You answer to cuts in the missile defense shield is smarter planning by acquiring more drones? Tell me how many drones can shoot a nuclear armed missile out of the sky? None of them can.
The bonuses you referred to were known by the Obama administration before the bail out passed. Remember they pressured Dodd to change the language? They changed the language allowing the bonuses before it went to Obama. Are you really that uninformed? By the way, there were some bonuses that should have been paid out. AIG is a large company with different divisions to it and people that worked in divisions not associated with the melt down were owed bonuses because they agreed to a $1.00 a year salary. These different divisions of AIG made a lot of money and some of the people from those divisions were owed the bonuses.
That money that the government is spending when the public isn’t comes from where? Come on…think hard. That’s right; it comes from us, the public. So the government is spending our money because we don’t have any to spend. Makes sense doesn’t it. This is not about you and me. If you don’t like what we are doing on the 15th then protest it. That is a right, just like being blissfully ignorant is. Tell Fidel I said, “HI” and you please join me on the 15th along with several others of my generation. - Tax increaseI qualify for the tax cut because i make less than 150,000 total family income and i do not have a buisness that makes over 250,000.
This will be the greatest thing to get more of my money back in my pocket. I can use that money to spend on companies that make more than 250,000. Trickle up economics.
So why is everyone protesting for a tax increase again?

Do you think CEO's should get company money if the company fails? I earn my bonus by what i produce. That's how it is in Oil and natural gas industry so why not on wall street? Our traders don't get paid for failing they get the axe. We have semi annual performance reviews from mail guy to ceo. That's why we make money during economic down times. There are no CEO handouts. The great depression was made worse by all the government spending and top analysts have said we would already be recovering but for Obama's policies. First, I would like to say that the constitution is a living breathing document so any static interpretations from 1776 are not relevent to today. Secondly, this spending is to change the power structure and give the power to the people (the next generation) and away from corporations,it's to provide oversight that had not been present in the past 8 years, and finally the stimulus is to tell the american people we're not "kicking the can" down to the next administration we are going to tackle our problems today. That would be something of which our founders would be proud.
The fact is someone has to pay for the mistakes of my parents generation(i am 32)and I say enough is enough lets get it done. I don't mind hard work and sacrifice. I don't mind tightening my belt. And guess what if my taxes are going to school lunch programs and roads here in tulsa i will gladly do it if there is federal oversight and the ability to track money. How many times has Tulsa been screwed by corrupt city street and toll road construction!
I do believe that police officers, teachers,and public servants serve the people and it's about time they were given a helping hand. Start by standing up on principles. When you get on tv or radio don't just state what you don't like, always come back with a solution and be prepared to give QUICK details. Liberals have learned to use the media and podium to their advantage. They may not be telling the truth but no one is countering it tit for tat. If you hear a bad message long enough and no one says anyting different then people will believe what they have heard. Be prepared with knowledge on what the liberals are passing around and be ready to counter it when they say that is not true.
The liberals work on peoples feelings. When a person is asked a question how do you feel about this, not what do you think. What people feel is not what they always think. I used this technic when I was a Army Recruiter and I was in the top 1%. I trained recruiters who were failing to go after the emotion part of an individuals decision making process and not the rational one. This has been the direction the liberals has played to win over people to their side. How would you respond to a question that was asked? How would you answer "If you have to make a decision on whether national health care is right for you, how do you FEEL about this" or "If you have to make a decision on whether national is right for you, what do you THINK about this." You will always get a different answer depending on what side of the brain it is called on to respond. Remember the liberals always use a dream sequence to draw people into their world and conservatives use realistic terms to make their case. People always dream about a better life and the liberals prey on this and when that dream fails they just blame the non-dreamers as bad people because they don't like you. I was once told by my first sergeant in recruiting that you need to paint a picture of the story you want the person to relate to and then put them in that picture. If you make the issue on a personal level that people can see themselves in then they can usnderstand the message. We are cutting missile defense spending after North Korea launches a missile? This Tea Party should stand for more than a general unrest about our current tax/spending problems. Obama has stated that this country is NOT a Christian country on his European tour. Philip is absolutely correct that we live in a Republic, not a Democracy. Any one willing to take the time to read about our country's beginning would know that fact. Trying to change history is futile. History has already been made and it can't be changed. Our nation's history was built on a Republican form of government.
As for the politicans in Washington today, I have an excellent quote from a man known still today for his wisdom, Mark Twain. "Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing often and for the same reason."

- Picking the Hill to die onThis issue is about more than taxes. Our country is a shadow of what it was when i was growing up in the 1950's and 60's. back then politicians were actually ordinary people. they did not extort businesses. Cops and FBI went after bad guys, not citizens. Taxes were fairly low. Guns were plentiful, God was in the community and the classroom. Our president just told the world that our country, a country built around the Judeo-Christian tradition is not a Christian Nation.
