DHS Closes BA Day Care
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma Department of Human Services
has closed a home day care that a Broken Arrow woman allegedly
tried to keep open during a power outage caused by a December ice
storm.
DHS spokesman George Johnson says Krina Hendricks' license was
previously revoked in April and an administrative law judge upheld
the decision. DHS issued an emergency order to close the day care
this week.
DHS says it found violations when it responded to a complaint at
Hendricks' home in December, when an ice storm knocked out power
for about 640,000 homes and businesses in the state.
Hendricks appealed the closure, and a hearing is scheduled for
July 8.
What others are saying
- It wasn't revoked until April...a good bit after the ice storm. The story doesn't say ALSO. I still think the story is vague.
- to "me" :The article ALSO states that her license was revoked in APRIL. That indicates there is more to this story.
- Broken Arrow Day Care closingThe action taken by DHS in this situation is absolutely stupid based on information the writer of this story provides! Surely DHS has better things to do than prosecute this woman. The story is vague and doesn't give many details, but from what I've read, it's a waste of time. No one had power during the outage... including the children's parents who were probably required to work. Why are the parents not being prosecuted for leaving their children at the daycare. It had to of been obvious she didn't have power. Where were the children supposed to stay while parents were working? Home alone without power? How were the children abused? Whoever covered this story needs to give specific details.
