2 senators to be elected Tuesday
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma voters are going to the polls to decide five legislative primary runoff contests and a host of county contests.
A small turnout is expected today, with no statewide races on the runoff ballot. Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters in Oklahoma County and Tulsa County will elect two Republican senators since no Democrats filed in the heavily GOP districts. There are three House races, but the winners will be opposed in November.
In Oklahoma City's Republican Senate primary, Steve Russell, a retired Army colonel whose unit was involved in the hunt and capture of Saddam Hussein, faces businessman Kyle Loveless for the District 45 post.
In Tulsa's GOP Senate primary, attorney Cason Carter faces Gary Stanislawski, a financial planner, for the District 35 position.
There are two Republican runoffs for House posts and one Democratic runoff.
