Let's play ball in downtown Tulsa as both parties agree

Let's play ball in downtown Tulsa. The Tulsa drillers are moving to the new ballpark in downtown. Today the key players announced an agreement has been reached between the city of Tulsa and the Tulsa Drillers. A few details still have to worked out but Mayor Kathy Taylor says there is protection in case the Drillers owner decides to sell. "The trust authority entity would have right of first offer to buy it before he sold it. So we protected it both ways tied the Drillers into a long term lease and also protected us with the ability for a local group to buy the team if he is going to sell it," says Taylor. The terms of the lease agreement still have to be hammered out including the length whether it is a 20-year or 30-year lease. In addition, the city council still needs to approve the ballpark trust authority so that $30 million in private money can be used to build the facility. The first season in the new ballpark would be 2010.
