Mayor Reacts to Street Vote
(Tulsa, OK) -- Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor will meet with councilors who voted for a two-billion dollar street plan to go on a November ballot. She intends to question them about strategy on how they plan to draw support for the large, 12-year package. The mayor preferred a smaller five-year plan she's convinced had the best chance to pass. The contentious debate over streets and split 5-4 vote by councilors has her concerned. She researching the success rate for past issues that went to a ballot following divided council votes. Although the council chose which proposal to go to voters, the mayor still has a voice in the matter. She could allow it to go forward, seek a change, or even veto the council action.
What others are saying
- 2B Tulsa Street ProjectI along with my family and friends will vote against the $2B street package. Enough is enough as the government must learn to stop using citizens as an ATM. My family and I have had to adjust our spending habbits due to economic hardships. Government must learn to trim the fat or this cycle will continue forever. Mayor Taylor should have fixed the streets and THEN bailed out the defunct airline, built the BOK center, moved the city offices. Enough is enough.
