TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A preliminary hearing is scheduled to get under way in Tulsa for an English teacher accused of killing his wife.

The hearing begins today for 50-year-old John Robert Kastner. It will determine whether he should stand trial on a first-degree murder count in the death of Lori Kastner.

John Kastner is accused of fatally shooting Lori Kastner, a former Oklahoma Supreme Court attorney, on June 25th at their south Tulsa home. He has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors have alleged that John Kastner, a former teacher at Webster High School, lied when he said his wife was killed by an intruder.

A police affidavit alleges a pattern of lying by Kastner, including that he was a member of the Israeli military and son of a wealthy inventor and connected to a large Israel-based nonprofit organization.
