Smaller Street Plan Passes
(Tulsa, OK) -- The Tulsa City Council makes a U-turn. By a vote of five to four, councilors have pulled the 12-year, two billion dollar street package and replaced it with the five year, 451 million dollar plan. Councilor Rick Westcott contends the smaller plan would be more expensive in the long run. But Councilor Jack Henderson says the people have made their wishes clear, they'll vote against the larger package. It may all be a moot point. The emergency clause did not pass so any councilor can put a hold on the issue and keep it from meeting the state election board's deadline of next Thursday.
