State GOP delegates prep for convention
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Republicans are receiving last-minute instructions and advice about attending next month's GOP national convention in Minnesota.
Bunny Chambers, Oklahoma's committeewoman on the Republican National Committee and a delegate to the convention, says she sees the party coming together.
Chambers says most Republicans began unifying after U.S. Sen. John McCain won enough delegates in primaries and caucuses to clinch the Republican presidential nomination earlier this year.
Oklahoma Republicans say they are energized by polls that show their candidate is closing the gap between his Democratic rival, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.
To keep the momentum going, state delegates say McCain needs to pick someone who is anti-abortion as his vice presidential running mate.
