Toll Booth Fatalilty
ANTLERS, Okla. (AP) _ A Texas man has died after a fiery
collision between a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle on the Indian
Nations Turnpike.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Cameron Lawrence of Sulphur
Springs, Texas, died in the accident in Pushmataha County on Friday
at about 1:35 p.m.
Troopers say a car was stopped at a tollbooth on the turnpike
when a northbound tractor-trailer driven by 70-year-old Richard
Sears of Waltersboro, S.C., hit Lawrence's motorcycle in the rear,
causing the motorcycle to hit the car.
The car was pushed into a ditch, while the tractor-trailer
continued northbound for about 76 feet with the motorcycle
underneath it. The motorcycle's fuel tank ruptured, resulting in a
fire.
Sears was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
