Arctic blast hits Oklahoma; 3 dead
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An Arctic cold front blasting into the state iced some roads in northeast Oklahoma, forced school closures and led to traffic accidents that killed two people and injured several others.
Those who died include a 65-year-old Big Cabin man who was riding in a tractor-trailer that collided with another tractor-trailer that had jackknifed on the Will Rogers Turnpike and a 3-year-old girl killed in a rollover accident on the Sand Springs Expressway in Tulsa.
Authorities also say a 54-year-old Cheyenne man died of exposure after being trapped in his car after it crashed on U.S. Highway 283 in Roger Mills County in far western Oklahoma.
Snow began falling last night in parts of northern Oklahoma, but accumulations of an inch or less are expected.
The Tulsa and Union school districts already say they won't have classes today.
Many of the 172 prep basketball games scheduled for tonight are also in danger of being called off.
