Snow falling in parts of Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - At least one traffic death has been attributed to the winter weather.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a collision between a pickup truck and a school bus left one man dead in Creek County yesterday.
Troopers say the truck was headed east on Oklahoma 51 when it lost control, traveled left of the center line and struck a westbound Mannford school bus head-on.
Troopers say the truck's driver died at the scene. One of two children on the bus was taken to a Drumright hospital with minor injuries, but the other child and the bus driver weren't hurt.
The National Weather Service says the snow began falling in the Oklahoma Panhandle this morning, causing vehicles to slide off slick roads in the region.
Moderate to heavy blowing snow limited visibility in Cimarron, Texas, Beaver and Harper counties and accumulated eastward to Kay County. According to the weather service's Web site, 3.5 inches was reported in Medford, 1.5 in Braman and an inch in Enid.
After temperatures topped out in the 60s and 70s on Monday, daytime highs only ranged from 31 degrees in Guymon to 60 degrees in McAlester yesterday.
