Historic church among buildings damaged by Anadarko tornado
A 19th century building is damaged after Wednesday's tornado that touched down in Caddo County.
The twister knocked down the Wichita Community Church between Anadarko and Gracemont.
The church's pastor said the history dates back to the late 1800's, when the building was used to teach American Indians.
The pastor said the three dozen members of the church plan to rebuild.
The building was not insured.
What others are saying
- disaster damageI don't have all the answers, but I do have this one on disaster preparedness/recovery:
A letter pertaining to disaster (hurricane, earthquake, tornado, flood, fire, etc.) has been sent to President Obama on behalf of all insurance policyholders. As a matter of transparency on the record of insurance consumer protection, any response by President Obama will be posted on the following Website for review: www.disasterprepared.net/president.html
Qui potest et debet vetare, jubet: (Law Maxim)
HE WHO CAN AND OUGHT TO FORBID A THING [IF HE DO NOT FORBID IT] DIRECTS IT - disaster damageIt will afford no security from the new ideas, that the old nations, the laws of centuries, the property and institutions of a hundred cities, are built on other foundations. The demon of reform has a secret door into the heart of every lawmaker, of every inhabitant of every city."
