Senate vote to help horse floaters
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Senate has voted to take the teeth out of the Oklahoma Veterinarian Practice Act in a flip-flop from a year ago.
Horsemen have complained the act is threatening to make felons out of people who file down horse teeth, who are known as horse teeth floaters.
The law making it a felony to practice horse dentistry or provide other animal husbandry services took effect Nov. 1.
Sen. Mike Schulz of Altus says the measure will allow horse teeth floaters to operate as they have in the past.
Schulz says the issue will be studied during the interim.
