Jobless rate in Tulsa climbing quickly for past 6 months
TULSA, Ok. - AM 740 and FM 102.3 News/Talk KRMG's Steve Berg reports that after it finally leveled off in April, the Tulsa jobless rate has taken another jump, going from 6.1 percent to 6.6 percent in just one month. The past 6 months have been rough for Tulsa, going from just 3.5 percent unemployment last fall to more than 6 percent this spring. The rate then dropped slightly in April, before climbing again last month. But experts say this latest increase might just be seasonal. They say Tulsa typically sees an increase in unemployment this time of year because of all the recent school graduates flooding the market, many of whom start out unemployed.
