TULSA, Ok. - AM 740 and FM 102.3 News/Talk KRMG's Steve Berg reports the organization known to attack, torture, and even behead civilians, La Familia is one of Mexico's most feared drug cartels and over the past few years, have expanded their reach into the U.S. Yesterday, the feds busted more that 300 La Familia operatives across the nation, including 8 men who lived in the Tulsa area. Assistant U-S Attorney Mark Woodward says, "We believe that these arrests have crippled La Familia and will make their ability to fund their operation in Mexico and to maintain their activities in the United States much more difficult if not impossible." Woodward says the extent of the Mexican drug cartel's presence in Oklahoma is no surprise. And he says they've set up shop, not just in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, but also in small towns where they hope to escape notice.
