(Tulsa, OK) - The school day could soon get longer for some middle school students in the Tulsa district.  Tulsa Public Schools will hold a forum tomorrow on a pilot program to extend the time in the classroom at some of the district's middle schools.  The district's Paula Wood says they would likely start out with three schools.  The program is federally funded.

What others are saying

  • this proves what schools really are
This is just more proof that the schools that everyone is required to support through property taxes are really just free child care.

I have no problem with school keeping students till 5:00pm... BUT if they do go that route then the parents and not the taxpayers should be footing the bill for those extra hours. They aren't for learning they are just to provide daycare.
