Habitat Youth Movement
(Tulsa, Ok)--For the veteran and long time Tulsa Habitat for Humanity volunteers it is getting harder to carry lumber or climb up onto roofs. New blood is needed to keep the home building program going strong. Habitat's Jamie Cox says they are promoting a youth movement that they call a Youth United Program. The aim is to attract younger volunteers from as young as 5 years of age through 25 years of age. Cox says Habitat will help the younger volunteers develop leadership skills and experience the joy of helping others. Habitat for Humanity helps families that could not otherwise own a home actually move into and purchase a home of their own. The Youth United Program is holding a membership drive on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. It starts at 7:00 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa. The goal is to have the first team of younger volunteers start buidling a home in the Fall. advertisement
