Oologah meningitis victim's funeral today
OOLOGAH, Ok. - A lot of prayers are offered after the deadly meningitis outbreak in Oologah last week. Seven-year old Andrew Thomas and eight-year old Shuache Moua have died and four other youngsters remain in the hospital. Andrew's youth pastor at the Oologah Assembly of God Debra Henry says the boy attended youth class every Wednesday night. She says, "There's still a lot of shock. It's almost like, is this really happening or are we going to wake up from a bad dream." Henry says the sudden deaths hit her as a pastor and also as a parent. Henry says, "It's just tragic because he was so young and had his whole future and life ahead of him and now that's gone." Andrew's funeral is set for two this afternoon at the Owasso Church of Christ. Henry's two daughters attend the Oologah-Talala Lower Elementary School. Both of her children received antibiotics at the school on Friday.
