State House Passes Meth Registry Bill

(Oklahoma City, OK) - Like sex offenders, people with methamphetamine convictions may soon have to register with law enforcement in Oklahoma. The state House has overwhelmingly passed a bill that includes prison time and a hefty fine for not registering. State Representative Randy Terrill (R-Moore) says the registry would be maintained by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and anyone on it would not be allowed to buy pseudoephedrine, a key meth making ingredient. Terrill notes that the manufacturing of methamphetamine is on the rise again in Oklahoma now that a method for making it with smaller quantities of pseudoephedrine has been found.
