Investigators in Sand Springs hope re-introducing a sticker program will help crack down on auto thefts in their city.
The department tells us the program allows drivers who won’t typically use their vehicles between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. to put special stickers on their vehicles. Officers can then stop a vehicle during those times without probable cause.
"If it's not the owner, chances are they're going to take off running," the department said. "You're going to know pretty quickly that it's stolen."
The stickers are said to be reflective and easy to see. They are free to the public at the Sand Springs Police Department.
