JENKS, Okla. — Jenks Fire Department’s newest fire and rescue pup has passed all tests and earned all necessary certifications needed to become a facility dog.
According to Jenks Fire, a facility dog is similar to a therapy dog, but used for comfort and companionship for staff and crew.
Facility dogs normally have between eight months and two years of training.
Ember earned her certification in American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Urban and Canine Good Citizen Advanced-Community Canine.
She joined the team in 2022 at only four months old and has been training all this time.
Jenks Fire said they plan to treat Ember to a “puppuccino” in celebration.
Congrats, Ember!
