BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Broken Arrow Police Department said their special investigations unit seized 10,000 fentanyl-laced pills, which has an estimated street value of $300,000.

BAPD’s K9 unit also helped in the drug bust.

BAPD shared the following message on Facebook in part:

“This significant seizure is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers in keeping our community safe. The investigation remains ongoing, and we thank everyone involved for their commitment to stopping the spread of this deadly substance.”

Captain Josh McCoy with Broken Arrow Police said they continue to see more and more fentanyl associated with other drugs.

He said the laced pills can be hard to pinpoint and can look like an over-the-counter drug, so it is crucial to get them off the streets.

“It is staying out of the hands of unsuspecting victims who might be taking something they think is just a pill of some sort to help with pain or something else and they don’t know it is laced with fentanyl,” said McCoy.

As for this bust, McCoy said there have not been any arrests made yet, but the Special Investigations Unit does have leads on where the pills were supposed to go.

“We were operating off of a tip and so fortunately, we were able to get those drugs off the street which to us is the biggest success out of this,” McCoy said.
