TULSA, Okla. — Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) received its first Gen2 Ambulance in Tulsa, which was unveiled on Tuesday before its first street shift.

“We want our EMSA EMTs and Paramedics to have the best tools to deliver the highest quality care to our patients—that includes our ambulances that are emergency rooms on wheels,” said EMSA President and CEO Johna Easley. “Because of COVID and manufacturing delays, this Gen2 Ambulance is the first brand new EMSA unit to hit the streets in Tulsa since 2017. We are very excited about the patient care improvements on the Gen2 Ambulance.”

Although the outside of the Gen2 Ambulance looks similar to the previous model, the inside has been redesigned to increase patient comfort and help paramedics and EMTs treat patients more efficiently.

The main changes included in the Gen2 Ambulance are:

• A CPR chair to make chest compressions easier for paramedics
• Center mount cot for patient comfort
• Easier access to medical supplies, such as oxygen.

EMSA said all of these changes were made after they listened to feedback from EMSA paramedics and EMTs.

EMSA said they plan to add at least ten Gen2 Ambulances to its Tulsa units in the coming years.
