The business cycle at 101st and Elm in Broken Arrow has been way up and has gone way down.
But the city is hoping it's on the way back up again.
A new, locally owned liquidation store called Metro Merch had its grand opening at 101st and Elm yesterday.
They buy truckloads of merchandise from big-box retailers and re-sell it at discount prices.
Not far away, Todd Pendergraft runs the Broken Arrow Family Drug Store, which has been at the intersection of 101st and Elm for 20 years.
He says there's no reason the area can't bounce back, based on its demographics.
“That particular intersection is surrounded by neighborhoods. It really is a neighborhood intersection, a lot of housing there,” Pendergraft said.
Broken Arrow city leaders have been very active in trying to revitalize business in the area.
