TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department unveiled a new patrol car design over the weekend.
Chief Wendell Franklin describes the new look in a Facebook video.
The new look features several Tulsa-themed graphics, including the Tulsa skyline, the Tulsa flag and the Route 66 emblem.
A United States flag has been added to the rear of the car.
Many of the changes were made to improve the function of the vehicle. Chief Franklin said reflective lettering, car numbers and the inverted word ‘police’ will help drivers know they’re being contacted by a police officer.
Chief Franklin said only new patrol cars will feature the new look. He said no additional taxpayer dollars, beyond the standard annual budget, will be spent implementing the design.
