The Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture, also known as OKPOP, has officially completed its $18 million Heart & Soul Campaign.

This marks a historic milestone in the effort to open Oklahoma’s first state-funded museum dedicated to the creative legacy of its people. The State Treasurer notified the museum that $18 Million dollars has been approved and accounted for, and the state will match the funds.

This will allow the museum to finalize the interior exhibit designs and begin the build-out of the museum.

“You know, this whole campaign wasn’t just about raising $18 million – it was about backing a mission that means something,” said Blake Shelton, honorary Heart & Soul Campaign chair. “OKPOP is here to celebrate the crazy amount of creativity that comes out of Oklahoma, to tell the stories of the folks who shaped music, film, and art, and to fire up the next generation to chase their own big dreams. The way people showed up to support this blows me away. Oklahoma should be proud of what’s coming.”

Located in the Tulsa Arts District, OKPOP will serve as a center for storytelling, creativity, and cultural preservation. The design development will begin in 2026 with an anticipated opening of spring 2028.
