Food On The Move, The Common Good to hold extra food distribution event

By Fox23.com News Staff

TULSA, Okla. — Food On The Move and The Common Good are handing out 300 bags of fresh produce during an extra food distribution event on Dec. 23.

This walk-up distribution is first-come, first-served and takes place after the month’s last Food and Resource Festival, giving families extra support as the season approaches.

Food On The Move said last month’s SNAP pause led more families than usual to turn to the organization. In November, the organization served 1,945 families and distributed 34,514 pounds of food.

Even with benefits back in place, the need remains and the holiday season can be especially challenging for families facing food insecurity.

Food On The Move said this event will allow the organization to provide fresh, healthy food and support to families during the holidays.

The distribution will be held at The Common Good Northwest Tulsa Hub (19 South 49th West Avenue) from noon to 1 p.m.
