UPDATE 1/9/2026 — Senator Mullin made a post on social media further commenting on the protest stating:

“If you’re a law-abiding citizen who “doesn’t” assault police, you don’t need this reminder, but obstructing or threatening federal law enforcement is a felony under Title 18 U.S. Code.”

“Act accordingly.”

TULSA, Okla. — Protestors gathered outside of Markwayne Mullin’s Tulsa office on Thursday to protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Thursday’s local protest occurred a day after the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by an ICE officer, an event that’s sparked outrage across the United States.

“I just heard about it and I wanted to come in for a little bit because I’m in 180 degrees opposition of what is happening in our country from the build up of ICE and the way they are handing everything,” shared protestor Yvette Wiley. “They’re endangering people’s lives, everyone’s lives obviously. We know that now. I think we just have to make it known that we are opposed to what is happening in our country right now. There’s so many different things going on.”

In a video posted on social media, Mullin commented on the shooting in Minneapolis, stating, “It’s unfortunate, but I support DHS and what they had to do to keep their men and women safe.”

Wiley explained why she believed protestors chose to gather outside of Markwayne Mullin’s office.

“He just falls in line with every one of the Gestapo like policies and he acts like that is normal. That is not normal. That is not even close to being normal.”

Wiley said she hoped the protest demonstrates to lawmakers and other Tulsans there are people opposed to ICE in the local area.

Senator Markwayne Mullin gave the following statement addressing the protest outside his Tulsa office:

“Like most Oklahomans, my support for our law enforcement is unwavering. Since President Trump returned to office, attacks on ICE agents are up 1,300% while death threats have soared 8,000%. Despite record-breaking attacks from the radical left, ICE agents are risking their lives to enforce our laws, deport violent criminals, and keep our communities safe. They deserve our respect and our cooperation at all times. As always, I want to thank the Tulsa Police Department for their diligent work and utmost professionalism.”

Mullin included a link to an article on the Department of Homeland Security’s website that discusses the statistics he mentioned in his statement. You can access that article here.
