MUSKOGEE, Okla. — The City of Muskogee celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a parade, worship service, a car show and more!

The Muskogee community had no shortage of MLK, Jr. Day celebrations on Monday. The city came together for its annual parade, which began at 12 p.m.

The parade’s theme for 2026 was ‘Building a Beloved Community.’ It careened down West MLK Street in Muskogee. Several organizations, schools, and agencies participated as well.

From the Muskogee High School band to the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office and even the Muskogee Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. were all in attendance to celebrate the life, work, and legacy of Dr. King.

Even before the parade, the neighbors of Muskogee were able to fellowship together with a free pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., which was followed up with a worship service at 10 a.m.

Former Muskogee Mayor Marlon Coleman spoke during the service. Following breakfast, worship, and the parade was an after party.

The City of Muskogee ended the day with its annual car show, live music, food vendors and a kids zone. The after party went until 3 p.m.

Despite the cold temperatures, the community lived up to its theme and came together to have a memorable holiday celebration in honor of Dr. King.
