TULSA, Okla. — EMSA provided another update about its response to weather-related calls as freezing temperatures persist following a winter storm that hit the Tulsa area.
Between Friday and 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, EMSA has responded to a total of 24 cold exposure calls and transferred 10 of those patients to the hospital for further treatment.
Since Friday afternoon, EMSA has responded to 33 traffic accidents and transported people from 10 of those calls to the hospital. EMSA also responded to two carbon monoxide incidents, one of which required a hospital transport.
Crews have responded to 98 slip-and-fall-emergencies with 66 of those patients being taken to the hospital.
As Tulsa’s roads and weather conditions continue to improve, EMSA said they’re anticipating a decrease in winter weather-related calls.
However, residents should still use caution and remember the following reminders amid the winter weather:
- Ensure all home heating equipment is functioning properly.
- Never operate generators indoors.
- Dress in warm layers when spending time outside.
- Check on elderly relatives, neighbors, and those who may be especially vulnerable to the cold.
