TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department used their police helicopter to locate and arrest a motorcyclist they said was reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour on the highway.

Around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the department said they coordinated with the Tulsa Police Helicopter to locate a motorcyclist who they said is often seen driving recklessly on the BA Expressway.

Authorities said the helicopter spotted the motorcyclist driving west from the IDL onto I-244, stating he was often driving faster than 100 miles per hour.

The motorcyclist exited the highway and police said he continued to speed until he pulled into a parking lot near West 51st Street and South 49th West Avenue.

Officers approached the motorcyclist and identified him as 38-year-old Shawn Floyd.

According to police, Floyd told officers he was speeding because he was running late for work.

Floyd was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail for various traffic violations, including Reckless Driving and not having either a motorcycle endorsement or insurance.
