TULSA, Okla. — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said one person was killed and another was injured during a crash on I-44 Friday.
The crash took place on I-44 between South 33rd West Avenue and Highway 75.
OHP stated that around 10:56 a.m. on Friday, a car was pulled over on the shoulder of I-44 with its hazard lights on.
Authorities said a second car driving westbound on I-44 swerved right for an unknown reason and struck the pulled over car in the rear.
The driver and passenger of the parked car were able to exit the car, but the 29-year-old driver was reported to have been injured in the incident.
OHP said the driver of the second car, identified as 59-year-old Rex Benson, died in the crash.
Westbound lanes of traffic were closed as crews worked the scene, but are now open.
