Inmate who walked away from prison in McAlester apprehended in Haskell County

UPDATE 3/2/2026 — The Haskell County Sheriff’s Office says Robey Butler was apprehended in Haskell County after receiving a tip.

They say was taken back into custody without incident.


McALESTER, Okla. — The Oklahoma Department of Corrections is reporting an inmate has walked away from Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester.

Officials say Robey Butler, 36, walked away around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Butler is described as a white male who is serving 6 years for child neglect out of Sequoyah County.

He is described as being 6′ 2″ tall, weighing 195 pounds, and has black hair and blue eyes.

If you see him, you are advised not to approach and to call 911.
