Man hit and killed by car on Hwy 169 in Owasso

By Steve Berg

TULSA, Okla. — Owasso Police say a man was hit and killed by a car this morning, as he tried to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 169 on foot.

Lt. Nick Boatman says it happened around 10:20 a.m. this morning in the southbound lanes of 169, a couple of blocks north of 86th Street North, near Fire Station 1.

He says the man, identified as 41-year-old Levi Allen Roper, lived in Tulsa, so they’re not sure why he was in the Owasso area, and he says it doesn’t look like Roper had a parked or stranded car nearby, so they’re not sure why he was walking there.

He says it appears Roper had come from the direction of Garnett Rd.

He says they’re canvassing the area to try to obtain any video from security cameras at nearby businesses, to see if that will shed any light on the circumstances that led up to the incident.

He says the driver of the car that hit the man stayed on the scene and cooperated with police and does not appear to be at fault.
