TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department said they’ve arrested a former middle school teacher who has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

According to police, the Tulsa Police Child Crisis Unit received a report about a teacher having an inappropriate relationship with a student on Feb. 6.

Investigators began looking into the report and said sixth grade teacher Zachary Speegle is believed to have begun talking and texting a 12-year-old student in his class.

According to authorities, Speegle inappropriately touched the victim and made threats against them, stating he knew where they lived and would hurt them if they rejected him.

Child Crisis Detectives said they were able to obtain a search warrant for Speegle’s home and searched it in February.

Police said they found several digital devices and children’s underwear in the basement.

Following the seizure of the electronics, police said the Sexual Predator/Digital Evidence Recovery Unit searched the devices and discovered more than 2,000 images and videos containing child sexual abuse material on Speegle’s computer.

Authorities arrested Speegle on March 5th and he was booked into the Tulsa County Jail.

He has been been charged with Lewd Molestation and Aggravated Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

The Tulsa Police Department said the investigation into this case is still ongoing and they believe it’s possible other children may have been victims.

If you have any additional evidence in this case about potential connections to other children, Tulsa Police ask that you reach out to them at 918-596-9222.
