TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa Board of Trustees has named Stacy Leeds as the next president of the University of Tulsa beginning on July 1.

Leeds is currently the dean of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and previously served as the vice chancellor of the University of Arkansas.

As a 1997 alumna of the University of Tulsa’s College of Law, Leeds said she’s excited to return to the university.

“Returning to the University of Tulsa is an honor and profound homecoming for me. Throughout my career, I have approached leadership with sensible pragmatism and a deep belief in the transformative power of higher education to empower our students, their families and their communities.”

Leeds was selected as president after a nationwide search conducted by the university.

Marcia MacLeod, the chair of the University of Tulsa’s Board of Trustees, explained, “Stacy Leeds represents the absolute best of our history and our future. She returns to her alma mater as a trailblazer, but equally as a grounded, experienced leader who will steward this university with exceptional care. The board has absolute confidence in her ability to conscientiously guide our institutions while accelerating our momentum.”

The university stated Leeds was chosen for her proven financial stewardship and innovation, her collaborative leadership and trust building skills, her demonstrated fundraising and donor partnership, her academic credibility and student success and finally her inherent fit into the University of Tulsa’s overall mission.

Leeds said, “The priority moving forward is our promise to our people: students, alumni, faculty staff and community. By providing selfless mentorship and unwavering support, we will give our students the foundation to expand their minds and the confidence to push their boundaries. We will empower our graduates to pursue a mission that truly matters both to them and the world around them. Most prosperous, innovative and resilient cities rely on an equally vibrant university in their midst. UTulsa will fulfill that destiny.”

The University of Tulsa’s interim president, Rick Dickson, will remain in the role until June 30 to help with the transition of leadership.

Leeds said she’s excited to welcome her first class of freshmen—the Class of 2030—in August.
