Illegally over-height semi causes bridge closure in Rogers County

By Ben Morgan and FOX23.com News Staff

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority said an illegally over-height semi truck hit a county bridge above the Will Rogers Turnpike in Rogers County, prompting a temporary closure of the bridge.

On Tuesday afternoon, OTA crews closed the Northeast Sawyer Road/County Road South 4220 bridge between East 460 Road and East 470 Road near Claremore in Rogers County.

The semi damaged at least one bridge beam above the Will Rogers Turnpike. Crews have closed the bridge until repairs can be made, but traffic remains open underneath on the turnpike.

OTA is working with county officials and will provide updates as they become available.
