STILLWATER, Okla. — A federal lawsuit has accuses Stillwater Public Schools, the city, and multiple school officials of failing to protect a student who reported sexual assault.
The lawsuit states that the student, who is deaf and had an individualized education plan, reported the abuse to administrators and a school resource officer, but claims nothing came of it.
The lawsuit alleges the district failed to enforce a protective order, allowed repeated contacts on campus and at school events, prioritized the accused students access to school activities.
The family is suing under Title IX and civil rights laws, and is seeking damages starting at a minimum of $75,000.
