OSAGE COUNTY, Okla. — Osage County Sheriff Bart Perrier shared an end-of-year update on the progress the Osage County Sheriff’s Office has made in 2025 as well as a look back on his first year as sheriff.

Sheriff Perrier said he and the agency have continued to make steady progress and have been able to strengthen their ability to serve the people of Osage County.

Perrier highlighted one area he said was of “primary focus,” the Osage County Jail.

“Recently, we resolved another long-standing plumbing issue, this time in the jail kitchen. A failing grease trap was replaced to prevent grease from entering the sewage system.,” said Sheriff Perrier. “With the support of the Osage County Commissioners, this $12,395 repair corrected a problem that had existed for an undetermined length of time.”

Perrier said a larger issue with the jail’s plumbing system was identified during this process.

“Much of the original cast-iron piping has deteriorated and is no longer functioning properly, with the most critical failures occurring in the kitchen area. With continued support from the Osage County Commissioners, we are moving forward with necessary construction to address these issues at a cost of $48,500,” Perrier said.

On top of improvements to the jail, Sheriff Perrier acknowledged the School Resource Officer (SRO) program, which he said has continued to “thrive due to the dedication and commitment of [the] SRO deputies.”

“These officers routinely work beyond regular school hours, attending school events and athletic activities throughout the county to ensure the safety of students and staff,” said Perrier.

Perrier said the agency will launch the D.A.R.E. program in the spring. It will be taught by D.A.R.E.-certified Deputy Derrin “Jorgy” Jorgensen.

“You will soon see a newly issued Sheriff’s Office D.A.R.E. pickup traveling throughout the county featuring a new decal wrap. We would like to thank Moore Pipeline Services of Pawhuska for generously sponsoring this wrap at no cost to the Sheriff’s Office,” said Perrier.

The Osage County Sheriff praised the agency for several other things, such as the inmate work crew program, a new maintenance agreement with Service Wing Solutions, and heroic actions, Perrier said deputies face daily.

“As always, I remain committed to transparency, accountability, and meaningful progress. I am proud of the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by every division within the Osage County Sheriff’s Office. Thank you to the people of Osage County for your continued trust and support,” said Perrier.
